  1. Hi to all that replied. Thank you for the help. My rod in question is an ABU "Workhorse" Boat Rod and the only rating is 12 pounds. Anyway thanks for the info at least I have a starting place. "Petri Heil" (German for good fishing). Hechtjaeger
  2. Hi, I have been living in Germany for over 20 years and have recently taken a look at some of the rods out of the USA. The rod standards are different than they are here. In Europe rods are rated by the weight of the lure you want to cast. 30g 100g etc. In the USA they are rated by line weight. What does that mean? With the new braided line, line weight can greater but also be much smaller in diameter that with mono. Is there any way to make sense of this method of rating? Thanks. Hechtjaeger

  4. I am an American living n Germany since 1980 and have fished in many great areas in Europe. I also have a small fishing tackle and boat supply store and import Items from the USA (NOT from China!). It has been almost 30 years since I was in the USA and "back then" Rods were classified as light, medium, or heavy action. In Europe they are classified as to lure weight. Recently I read a rod description which had the rod weight classified in line weight. How do I get started with that since the braided lines are a lot thinner and have much more strength? Is there a conversion chart somewhere? thanks and "tight lines" - in German "Petri Heil".
