  1. I'm watching a live stream from the Hook Up Tackle, Ben just said that all the details on the new NRX+ rods will go live at midnight tonight. Stores will have them available for preorder, expected to be in stock by June. P.S.: Shimano Europe just posted this livestream that will go live 5:30PM my time - 12:30PM Eastern. So far, nothing on Shimano North America's channel
  2. Okay, last one before the opener. I was running low on Flukes and one thing lead to another... You know how it is. Even got some 3/8oz round drop shot weights to try out the whole "powershot" rig thing.
  3. Oh yeah, that's the stuff. They look exactly like the fly models.
  4. Talked to a guy I know, tackle store owner, he told me they're going to use the "NRX+" name, same as they did with their fly rods. He's expecting them to have Torzite guides, although he couldn't confirm that with the local Shimano rep. @mrpao they look worse in photos than in reality. Same goes for the neon green wrap on the E6X. But they're still fugly. The baby blue isn't the worst part, the green on top of it is. That being said, I love my 802, even with wraps only a parent could love ?
  5. Thanks! There wasn't much to pick from, they only had 4 or 5 colors available so I got American Shad, Aurora Black, and TO Craw.
  6. That sneaky little primate got me again. Got tired of waiting for the IMX-PRO CBRs to be back in stock and found a great deal on an E6X 845. Also got three LV-500s because why not. They're really hard to find around here, it's mostly 300s and RTOs. Oh, and 15lb InvizX for the spare spool on my jig setup, for when our water gets gin clear.
  7. Sorry I missed it, but I was completely out by 11 local time. I tried, I failed. ?
  8. @MN Fisher yeah, timezones are murder on the ol' sleep cycle. If things were slow at work I'd join you guys for sure, but I've had some pretty early morning zoom meetings lately. I'll definitely try ?
  9. Thanks for booking another one, @Boomstick I'll try to stay up to talk with you guys, but I'm not making any promises ?
  10. I'm not one to enjoy raising old posts from the dead, but... I was curious myself. I've gotten a few Bass Patrol jigs since the winter - they're well built, readily available around here, and cheap. Last week I ordered a few Dobyns Extreme jigs from a store in France, it was the only place in Europe I could find them and I didn't feel like paying $100+ in shipping and fees by getting them from TW. I noticed how similar they were to the Bass Patrol jigs. The skirt material is exactly the same, but in different combinations (the thin rubber strands on the Dobyns are the same ones used on the brown 3/8oz Bass Patrol, but you can really see it in the orange silicone ones). The heads are almost the same shape, the weed guard material is exactly the same. Both of them are made in the Philippines (probably in the exact same factory). Even the packaging is the exact same shape and size. Same plastic bag held up by three staples.
  11. A couple of "well, I only need a two or three things but this way I'll get free shipping!" orders
  12. Sorry I missed it. Between the 5 hour time difference and late evenings and early mornings at work I was completely out by 10 PM local time. I'll see you all on the next one! Work is bound to slow down starting next week and I'm pretty sure I can claim our calls as "self care" with HR ?
  13. I can't make it tonight. I'll see you in the next one ✌️
  14. I had been looking at this thing on the website for a while now, finally decided to buy it. According to Matt "Wallet Killer" Allen, this is *the* frog rod. I'm also going to use it for pitching heavier stuff in vegetation. Shimano Expride 7'3" XH (JDM version)
  15. Slight update if any of you run into this issue: contact Oakley. I opened a case with their customer support, uploaded pictures of the leash, and a day later they said it would be replaced under warranty. Sent my sunglasses in (everything: frames, lenses, case, etc.) and I'm now expecting new ones to arrive. Just wanted to leave this update in case someone else had the same problem, sorry for bringing this post back from the dead ?
  16. The last two tackle orders are here. They were out of 5" double tail grubs, swapped it for the hula grubs. It's just a matter of cutting out the skirt when I put them on a jig. Also, this year I'm making a conscious effort of branching out, trying new stuff. These are the first Megabass and Lucky Craft lures I've ever gotten. The Simms sun gear should be here on Monday (ordered from a really nice fly fishing shop in Germany), which will help keep my white spots from turning bright red every time I'm out in the sun, and a certain rod I had been looking at on the website for weeks now and finally pulled the trigger on should arrive soon after that.
  17. I use 20 lb braid to a short 12 to 15 lb mono leader, just to keep the braid from getting tangled on the trebles
  18. Made a few smaller orders over the weekend, two of them arrived today
  19. This is our last year doing it. A couple of years ago, the European Commission decided enough was enough and gave it 3 ears to phase it out. Won't miss it, that's fore sure
  20. So that's why it showed up on my calendar at 3 PM local time... Forgot you guys do it two weeks before we do ?
  21. Consider this the villager thrown into the volcano to appease the great and powerful Bait Monkey for now
  22. If Mark Sexton says they can't, I'm pretty sure they don't. The man has a MS in Fisheries Biology, as well as all the research work he does over at Berkley. If you're looking for more detailed info I found this paper It also validates what Mark said in an earlier video about bass not being able to discern the color blue. The reflectance of the chartreuse yellow stimulus was greater than 100% because it reflected more light than the diffuse standard we used for our calibrations. This happened due to the fluorescent properties of chartreuse yellow, where UV photons are absorbed and then emitted at a longer wavelength (Johnsen and Mobley 2012; Mitchem and Fuller, unpublished data). However, our white training target also had a reflectance slightly greater than 100%. Regardless, our model indicated that these 2 visual stimuli should appear similar to the bass. (...) Green sunfish twin cones were slightly red-shifted compared with largemouth bass (green sunfish twin cone: 621 nm; largemouth bass twin cone: 614.48). In addition, Dearry and Barlow also did not find evidence for blue or UV sensitive cones in adult fish. Edit: I also found a link to the Dearry and Barlow paper that the first one referred to about green sunfish
  23. Just posted this same video on another thread, but it's even more relevant here
  24. About that UV thing... (starts at about 5:49 if the timestamp doesn't work) I didn't know it either, and I had ordered a two pack of "UV enhanced Fish Sticks". To be fair, the only reason I got the UV ones was because TW had it as a pack and it was cheaper than the regular ones. Edwin Evers had two videos with Mark Sexton and he explained a ton about the biology and anatomy of bass.
