I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I sweat *a lot*, and need something that breathes really well. If it doesn't breathe well, I feel hot and wet, or worse, cold and wet To some extent, you do get what you pay for in this area. You don't have to pay a fortune to be reasonably comfortable - something like a Marmot Precip on sale isn't too expensive and does a reasonable job. Gore-Tex is more breathable, or, even better, something made with Event. By the way, there are definitely some clean folks on this board. I'm lucky if I wash my coat/jacket once a year. Maybe that is why I'm having trouble finding fishing buddies .

I'm not a fan of ReviveX - I know Gore-Tex recommends it, but it doesn't seem to work well for me. I prefer Tectron DWR Spray-On instead. And for 3-ply Gore-Tex, I also like NixWax TX Direct. It doesn't work with 2-ply Gore-Tex, though.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I've learned a lot just by reading through the great forum posts and material on this site. I can already tell I'm going to love it here.

I'm getting back into fishing after a 20 year hiatus. I started fishing with my grandfather when I was 9 years old, and continued until I graduated from college. After that, I pretty much stopped. I have a 4 year old son who I want to grow up fishing with me, as well as fishing with my buddies and by myself, so I'm getting back into the sport.
