  1. Easiest way to catch them is off of plain sandwich bread--so you don't have to mess with dough bait ingredients. Use a very small treble hook, 6-8 and cover the hook entirely with bread. Carp have small mouths and they will spit out the bread if they feel the metal. You don't even need weight, but if you cannot cast far with the small bait, suggest using an small egg sinker connected to a barrel swivel. Give yourself about a foot and a half leader, then allow a little slack in your line so the carp can pick up the bait. Then sit and wait.
  2. NitroMan, my last week I caught tons of 1-2 lbers with an occasional 3-4 lber in the flats. What I've been using is a shallow running red tiger crankbait. When I switched to a 1/2 oz white colorado blade spinnerbait with white trailer I caught the one in the attached picture. Long, but not yet fat with eggs. It was in the 3-4 foot depth near shore. As for locations near pohick for large fish, in a close spot I pulled a 5+ lber, a couple of 3s and lost three other large ones, forcing me to stomp around my boat like a 10 year old. I did catch these on the red shallow crankbait with pesky 1-1.5 lbers getting in the way. Only problem is that they were isolated to one spot (literally 10 yds square) which is usually filled with 2-3 boats nearby, depending upon who gets there first. It's turning into the new Matto or P-monkey... Drop me a PM if you'd like to know more. Military is moving me out of here soon, so I don't mind letting you know of some nice spots since I'm doubtful I'll return to the Pentagon. Matt
