  1. Loomis MBR844C IMX with a Lew's BB25SS. Use 20lb. mono or 65lb. braid. The Lew's is a wench that is very simple and dependable. Total cost around 300.
  2. Any of the reels you mentioned are great for flipping. The main reason for using these reels is the speed of retrieve. Once you pearce the mat and get that pig on you need to horse him up as quickly as possible. So the 7:1 gear ratio is great for that purpose. Hope you load the reel with 30Lb mono or 65LB braid, or something close in strength.
  3. I started using spinning gear. I received my first baitcaster as a gift with a right hand retrieve. I learned to use it and it was fine. In fact it was hard to find left hand retrieve reels. with that said, my last 2 baitcasting reels have been left handed and I like them much better. I thought it was a hasssel to switch hands during casting and retireving. Now it's not even a thought. Ge the Left Handed Reel. You'll love it.
  4. On my Curado I have no brakes active but I use my thum to slow down the line. For me that is ok but it is not set and forget by any means.
  5. Hay guys, I want your opinions. I run a Merc.XR6 150 HP on a Tracker Avalanche with a Tempest stainless 23 P prop. i want more top end, should I prop up to a 24 or 25 pitch? Thanks for looking. I get 60MPH now with a full rig, full gas,2 people weighing 400 total. I'd like to get to 65. I do not have a jack plate as of yet.
  6. 2002 Tracker Avalanche 2003 Mercury 150 XR6 Minn Kota 74 lb. manual with 2 foot switches Eagle 320 on bow and Eagle 480 GPS at helm 60 MPH on GPS full load of gas tournament rigged 2 adults. not bad for an aluminum boat!!!
  7. They replaced one for me but I had the receipt and it was within 1 year. After that I do not know. Show up with the rod they do not need the bad press or a dissatisfied customer. Their customer service as BPS is excellent.
  8. Not to complicate things but I would consider the Quantum PT tour - 2008 model with the infinite casting system. Its a little heave but what a great reel. My son and I use them and he definitely beats it up and it takes it all day long. it comes as a 7 to1 and a 6.3 to 1 so its plenty fast. They sell on EBay for around 100 to 130.00. Worth the look.
  9. I would consider an older model Curado 201. They can be has for about 70.00 on Ebay. just a thought. I have a 201 lefty and I love it.
  10. I mostly use Suffix 12#. I also like Cajun red but it has some line memory so I re-spool fairly often. 65# braid on flip-pin stick.
