  1. I'ver got 2 BB25SS and they are workhorses. If you clean out the thick grease and replace with reel lube and oil they cast very well. Parts are hard to come by but they seldom break.
  2. I've been playing the blues for over 40 years and the gigs are getting better and better. There is nothing like live blues!
  3. Zero - I am alergic to boat or motorcycle payments. 2002 Avalanche with a 2003 150 XR6. She runs great!!!!!
  4. If the motor is a Mercury, I have found out that the water will be hot. On my XR6 150HP. I asked the same question and was concerned about the water pump but all the answers i got back were that the water will be hot from the pee hole. Also my motor runs great with no problems. It is also a 2-stroke, a 4 stroke is a totally different animal!!!
  5. You can fish from the roof!!! AND - you may have a 10 Lb. bass in the passenger seat. If so don't let her jump and roll up the windows as soon as possible ;D
  6. Is that Shimano's new equipment! I hope so!!! ;) ;D ;D
  7. Let's see, other than my g Loomis rods ( which I have used for about 2 years) I have another 10+ rods that I paid about $ 35.00 each for at Walmart,Kmart,Sports Authority. All great rods and all have caught fish and continue to catch fish. I do have 2 Shimano Reels ( that will make some of you very happy) , I also have about 6 Mitchell reels, bait-casters and spinning + 3 Quantum's that I and my son use, 2 Lew's bb 25ss reels and a combo from Bass Pro that I have had for over 6 years. Oh yea I also have 2 Daiwa spinning reels and one Penn spinning reel. I guess most of you would consider that crap!!! Giving productive, useful criticism is different than bashing every body's gear because you don't use it or believe in it. The worst offenders are the Quantum haters! I love mine. Again, No offense intended to anyone posting on this site just my observation based on reading other threads on this great informative site.
  8. I assume ( and you know what that can do to ya!!) that the Loomis warranty and fast replacement plan will not be affected by the buyout? I do not have much info. about the purchase, does anyone know how it affects existing Loomis rod owners? After further research, I know that Shimano bought G Loomis in 1997. so I answered my own question. The warranty is the same.
  9. If the carrot stick was made by Shimano half of you guys would love it!!!!!! Most of the Jawing is about the lack of warranty response, as I hear and read about the product. Angelers have a hard time getting replacements when they break, and by this and other threads on this forum, they break often. If I wanted one, I would make up my own mind and do what i thought best and not complain about it.
  10. Boyd Duckett is not their only sponsor. Henry Wasczuk of "Fins and Skins" and "Fishing the Flats" also endorses their salt water flats line of E21 rods. What's his take on this? i have not heard anything from Waszczuk. Just some more fuel for the Fire!!!! I have not heard anyone complaining about the saltwater line of rods breaking!!! I do not believe they're are any different than Ducklett's line.
  11. Heavy line in my opinion is used when fishing LMB in heavy cover and it is the only time it's needed. Flipping in mats and thick salad and haulin up an 8 pounder with 6 lbs. of salad is the only need. I do not fish with anything heavier than 12lb test and that is even too heavy. Good 10 lb. is ideal. I fished the surf in N.J. and N.Y and Mass. for many years and never fished with any line heavier that 15lb. test. That was for correct lure presentation. 15lb mono will catch a 30lb fish and larger if you set the drag correctly and have patience IMO. Let me clarify that in the surf there are not many rocks and stumps to contend with.
  12. Check out the Lew's BB-25SS of the Lew's BB19SS. The BB1's are also great reels and all have lower retrieve ratio's. These are true work horses. Some people have not been kind to the new lew's 25's and 19's but if you clean and remove some old grease in the gears they are awsome and reliable. But they do not look sexy!!!! and are not necessarily low profile reels. I fish 2 and I never had a problem.
  13. If I had the extra money I would have GLX's but I don't so my IMX's are just fine. IMX"s in MOP are the best on the market other than the GLX. I also fished GLX's and the difference is very slight. Definately no complaints about the IMX's. It also does not matter to me one bit about split grips as others have referred to the cork handles as old and outdated. The name of the game is to catch fish!!!!!
  14. I fish IMX'S and they are the best I have ever used. I vote for the IMX.
  15. I'm sure the shop where you purchased the rod will honor the warranty and replace the stick. If not leave it in the yard for Buggs Bunny!!!
  16. If that boat is something that you really want at that price ( assuming the seller is not a crook) Go there bring cash or the equivalent and be prepared to test drive the boat, set up a local mechanic to check out the motor ( the Internet works for locating reputable mechanics) bring a tow vehicle and bring the darn thing home. For the price of $ 5,500. it is worth the extra expense for the trip. The boat value is easily $ 30,000 on the low side. If this cannot happen then forgetabout it. If it is a scam then be done with it. I have seen scams like this on Toyota Supra adds. Modified cars that are easily worth $ 50K selling for 6K. If it is too good to be true that it's not true.
  17. Pros run whichever manufacturer gives them the most sponsorship money. Bullet and Allison do not play in that arena.
  18. I now have an aluminum boat and it fishes very well. My opinion is a aluminum boat for cost to buy and less maintenance cost.
  19. Culprit Pumpkin speed worm any size.
  20. I have been fishing Shimano's and Quantum PT tour reels for years. All casting reels and have had no problem with either one My 15 year old son and I fish many tournaments and he fishes primarily with his Quantum PT tour and let me tell you he beats it up . It still works great. Quantum makes a fine product and if I got a deal on them vs. Shimano I would jump on them in a heart beat.
  21. 65# Power Pro is what i use, have never had a break off as of yet!! Looking forward to something that heavy to pull my line.
  22. Pull them out, I do it all the time. If that does not work, nair your nose! Let me know if it works ;D As for the *** hairs - youre on your own. I would think the farts would burn them off.
  23. I use a 201 matched with a custom medium stick and have no complaints. Great reel and can be had for a good price. You will be very satisfied.
  24. A couple of good hits relieves all the pain!!!!!
