  1. Thanks, I'll have to check the Stradic and Symetre's out. I'm not too familiar with Shimano b/c I could never afford them, but if these models are in my price range I'd love to see what all the hype is about when it comes time to a Shimano reel. I've heard nothing but good things about them as far as fishing with them goes, they've just always had a pretty hefty price tag on them :-/
  2. Thanks for the quick feedback. I'm heading to a Bass Pro Shop after work today and hope to handle all the reels mentioned. Good to hear the Quantum reels get good reviews. I'll have to check out the Catalyst and Energy reels. Thanks again.
  3. Hey guys and gals, Need some suggestions for a new spinning reel. I've been wanting to get one to replace my Penn spinning reel that I'd like to set aside specifically for salt water fishing. Here's a few that I've had my eye on, but b/c I've never fished them I don't know which would be best: 1. Quantum KVD series or PTi 2. Johnny Morris Signature Series 3. Browning Citori 4. BPS Pro Qualifier After doing a little research I'm kind of partial to the Quantum Spinning Reels after reading up on their magnetic bail as apposed to everyone else's spring and screw bails, but am open to any pro's and con's of the above mentioned or other reels that you might suggest. Looking to spend around $100.00 for a good quality reel.
  4. Thanks for the friendly welcome everyone!! Hope most of you had a chance to be out on the water this past weekend. I know the weather here in GA was awesome!! Just wish the fish would have been biting better, lol.
  5. Just wanted to get on here and say "what's up?" to everyone here. I've been reading through everything on this site for a while now, but just recently decided to sign up to the forum section. This site is great and very informative!! Little bit about myself: I was born and raised in a little town just north of Pittsburgh, Pa called Butler. Dad taught me how to fish when I was about 3, and I've been at it ever since. We never had enough money for a boat, so I've been a shore fisherman my whole life. The main body of water I fished growing up was Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park. Mostly fished for Largemouths, but also went after Hybrids, Catfish, Crappie and Bluegill. Also fished Glade Run for Largemouth, Crappie and Trout. Once I had a drivers license I started venturing out a bit further and eventually made my way to Lake Erie. I became addicted to smallies in the summer and steelhead in the late fall, early winter months and much of my time and energy went to fsihing for mainly the steelhead in the fall/early winter. I now reside in Georgia, right smack dab in the middle of the state in Warner Robins. I still don't have a boat, but have met up with some great friends that do have boats, and really enjoy fishing the various bodies of water found in Georgia. When I'm fishing from shore I spend a good bit of time at a PFA in Bleckley County, Ga, but when I have the chance to go out with friends we mostly fish Lake Oconee, Lake Sinclair and Lake Blackshear. I also work at a Bass Pro shop, on a limited schedule and enjoy the atmosphere of working there. I started in the fishing deparmtent and am now in the hunting department, but my overall passion is for fishing. I feel I'm very well rounded in my fishing abilities, using a wide range of lures and methods, and at times still like to get out there with live bait to see what might come along. And when it comes time to using artificial bait I love throwing a crankbait! I usually start out with a crank, move to a spinnerbait, then throw a jig and pig, hit up some flukes, throw a senko (wacky style), texas or carolina rig a worm or lizard, and just recently started to experiment with drop shotting. I hope to be able to contribute where I can on this site and learn a lot from many of you, and if you're ever in middle Georgia and are looking for a fishing partner just let me know, I'm down for fishing anywhere and for anything.
