  1. funny that this is posted, me and my fishing buddy talk about this all the time. he feels strongly pro author point of view and i qm more of a naturally gifted and "god" given talent kind of person, makes for a good debate
  2. going to be a work in progress for sure, and i did spend most of the day picking out nests and knots. def made me question why i wanted to learn this so bad in the first place. good thing is i was fishing with my buddy who is a rookie so he didn't mind the hassle of it all.
  3. that is good to know, was hoping you would say you have pulled some close to 5 out of there but i figured that might be a stretch. the thing that surprised me the most about the place (since it was the first time i had a boat on it) were the high water temps, and even more so the amount of people that showed up around 1pm to swim in the place.
  4. have you found quality fish in there?
  5. used it for the first tine myself yesterday and it felt great, awesome technique
  6. Tin followed your advice, took the canoe out to seven mile road and by our standards my buddy and i had a good day. caught 7 bass in about 3 hours, all on plastics, and my 4 on mann's jelly worms. i might have had a better time if it wasn't my first time using a bait caster, that was an adventure. mostly little guys i would say only 2 of the bass were over a pound. that place is deeper in spots than i thought it was and man is it looking weed choked in most areas.
  7. thanks tin. i live close to seven mile road. i recall fishing there years ago with my old man, bout 10 years ago a buddy and mine set out to find the second pond, i believe its called the lower res. we actually bush whacked through endless thorn bushes and endless muck up to our wastes and finally found it. basically the moral of the story is i haven't been there since ive been home and i remember it being kind of trashed and getting a bit dirty. do you or any of you guys know a way into the second pond off seven mile road itself, or is it strictly property access.
  8. it really is, you guys know of any more quiet little productive ponds like carbuncle where i can take my wife with me she is really taking to going but doesn't really like big bodies of water in my crappy canoe. i have heard some good things about Indian lake down in SK i believe.
  9. dont worry man, my wife does the same thing. i like it though she does her research and makes educated decisions.
  10. Any of you guys willing to share some advice? I plan on hitting beach pond this weekend with my old man. i'm pretty excited, just moved back up here after 4 plus years and i am looking forward to getting back on the water with him. this will be my first trip to beach pond, well actually on the water. we will be using his 12footer with the old 4 horse johnson. we joke about it, but it sure beats paddling!
  11. well, got just 2 little guys today, which is actually become a good day for me. got a picture of one ill post it when i get a chance its good for a laugh.
  12. thanks guys, i appreciate the info. i'll let you know how it turns out, if it is just a "casting" outing well, i've got pretty good at those over the years.
  13. any of you guys ever fish carbuncle? heard it is decent, and it is a nice ride to it for me. was thinking of heading there tomorrow with a buddy to check it out.
  14. i'm very glad i found this place. i searched a ton to find some other guys from RI looked and most places i looked were devoid of rhode islanders
  15. Beach from post-spawn to the first cold snap in October is all about electronics. You generally cant find smallies in there to win a tournament this time of year though. Those bags usually come from the grass by the dam and are largemouth. But I did happen to find a magic tree in about 35' that throws out a few nice 3-4 pound largies in the course of 8 hours. Mix that in with a few 2-3 pound drop-shotted smallies and you have a nice 15 pound bag that will win most of the time. But someone always seems to come in with a fish over 6. ;D interesting. I don't know how well that bodes for me with my newly acquired canoe, pretty much newbie status and total lack of electronics at the moment. but encouraging to hear that the potential is in there for sure! buddy of mined checked out beach last week, heard it had good shoreline access. seemed to us that only the smaller side across the road did, and i only had a couple hours so i didn't get to see much.
  16. great thread madfish i was going to ask the same question. just went to beach pond for the first time, and im really looking forward to putting some serious hours in there. im going to have to pick all you guys brains (willingly on your end of course)!
  17. beautiful fish!
  18. hey guys as a new member from ri i thought i would give this a little bump. im actually in cranston myself in knightsville, was excited to see some other rhode islanders here when i joined!
