  1. Don't limit yourself to just frogs. The 735C is an excellent pitching stick as well. Very versatile rod as long as a slower action isn't required.
  2. I vote 734C. No need for the Extreme series with moving lures. Don't think you will be disappointed.
  3. It would certainly work, but it depends on your preference in action and the cover you will be fishing. For heavy cover it would be an excellent choice. I personally would opt for the 734C for an all around swim jig stick for the slower action. Another thing to consider is if you are fishing braid, you may want a slightly slower action.
  4. You absolutely want the 735C. The 735C and 733C are actually in different series within the Champion line. Take a look at the Dobyns website. The 735C is designed specifically for frogging/pitching and is rated higher than the 733C.
  5. I would have to agree here. I highly recommend looking for a used reel in the Flea Market forum if money is tight. You will save money in the long run by not having to upgrade soon after your purchase.
  6. I don't bother with anything other than white anymore.
  7. I got lucky with mine. I tried the Fathom (I think) and they were too small so I went with the Zane and they fit perfectly. Hope you have the same luck. Green Mirror is the way to go for all around IMO.
  8. There are many different frame sizes and styles. You best go try a few and see how they fit. I believe the 580 Green Mirror is technically a copper based lens, but is similar to amber.
  9. x2. CXX is about as tough as it gets.
  10. Dobyns DX784 ML Zillion 50th Anniversary Toray Superhard Upgrade 16# Northstar Black Series jigs in 1/2-3/4oz Dobyns DX743 Core 51MG Toray Superhard Upgrade 14# Northstar Black Series jigs in 1/4-3/8oz
  11. I have a pair of Green Mirror 580s. Can't say enough good things about them. Perfect all around lenses for freshwater fishing IMO.
  12. I use a Dobyns 705CB. It's the all graphite version with a crisp mod/fast action that I find to be ideal.
  13. 12-15# CXX and say goodbye to breakage issues. People complain about memory issues with CXX, but on casting gear I find this to be negligible.
  14. x2. Definitely the way to go.
  15. Split ring pliers are a must have if you change out trebles. I would never consider doing it without them now. I also highly recommend the KVD Triple Grips. I'm not a big time cranker, but I think I can count the amount of fish I have lost on one hand since I started switching my stock hooks to Triple Grips. A mod or mod/fast action rod makes a big difference as well.
  16. Northstar. Can't go wrong.
  17. It's true that everyone's eyes are different and you need to try different frame styles to see what fits you personally. However, I highly recommend the 580 lenses in Green mirror and Silver mirror for freshwater bass fishing. They are copper based lenses and offer great protection in multiple lighting conditions, while offering great vision under the surface. I have a pair of Zanes in Green mirror and love them. Don't think I will ever buy a different kind.
  18. I use 7'3". Specifically, I use a Dobyns Champion 733C and think it is an excellent rod for 3/8oz and 1/2oz spinnerbaits. I do tend to prefer longer rods though and all but one that I own are over 7'.
  19. x3 on the Dobyns 735C. I have the Champion because I prefer the full handle, but I have heard good things about the Savvy as well.
  20. If your budget is $150, I would look toward the upper end. You usually do get what you pay for. When it comes to spinning reels I prefer Shimano, so I would recommend looking at the Symetre and Saros. I have not used the latest generation spinning reels, but I had the prior generation Saros and it was a quality reel for the price, which was a little less than the current model.
  21. I prefer magnetic simply for the ease of adjustment. Specifically, I enjoy Daiwa's Magforce Z breaking system, though I rarely throw anything under 3/8oz.
  22. I use the graphite version and love it for lipless cranks, but I've heard great things about the fast action glass version as well.
