WOW! I really didn't expeect this much feed back. Thanks everyone. The main I'm seeing is to make it more about them, I really need to work on that. I do help them out but I'm also working on getting me a fish too. Having not had a whole lot of luck myself it's just as exciting for me. I'll definately have to just take them and leave my rod behind and just focus completely on them. I really like the idea of having a bucket-o-minnows too. Again thanks so much to everyone.

We've got a princess and a spider man. I haven't really tried them on spinners. My son tried for a few minutes just because that's what I had on. I'll definately have to try it though. Thanks.

Hey everyone. I wanted to see if anybody here might have any tips for keeping my kids (girl is 6 and boy is 3) occupied while fishing. I really like them coming with me but they get bored after about 10 minutes or so. I figured if I had a boat I could throw a handful of gravel in it and let them chuck it all in the water, but momma won't let me get a boat yet. (I think she's scared to let the youngsters on the water). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good point. This is my second time as a noob. It's been probably 10 years or so since I've really fished. I've been hitting it as much as I can here for the last 4 or 5 months. The wife isn't that big of fan so I can't go as much as I'd like. But she keeps me well fed so I gotta compromise somewhere, right?

Yeah, there are a couple houses. One might just be a storage building. There were a couple guys fishing the other day but the lake is about 100 yards from the road and it's fenced off. I guess I'll just keep checking, hopefully I won;t have to wait that long. Thanks for the help.

I've lived in Portland TN for four years now and just found out about 2 or 3 months ago that we have a lake. I went to check it out and it's on both sides of the road. On the right hand side is a sign that says "Private Sumner county Sportsmans CLub Members only". It looked like was set up pretty nice. A few small jon boats and the like, and a couple of docks. I saw no phone numbers or websites. I looked them up on line and all I could find was that they exist. I was wondering if any here knows about "them" or is one of "them". These guys are more secretive than the Masons. I just want a nice place to fish close to home, other than catfish pay lakes. It's on Portland Lake Rd in Portland TN if you want to google map it. Hey everybody. My name is Bruce, I live in Portland TN, and unfortunately there is really not much close to home so I fish near Old Hickory dam area after work any chance I get. I've been checking this forum out for a few months and have found a lot of help. I do have a question that I will put in the clubs section. Thanks in advance for any help.
