  1. Don't know if this is the right forum to post this, but I'm looking for someone to do a top quality repair job on a rod for me. Need reel seat replaced on a Fenwick Elite Tech casting rod but don't want to pay for the shipping of a 7' rod, so I'm hoping to find someone local if possible. I'm willing to drive an hour. I live in NW Ohio, an hour West of Toledo/Lake Erie area and an hour East of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Target area would be NW Ohio, NE Indiana or Southern Michigan. Let me know if you know of anyone out there for me. Thanks!
  2. Hi guys, To avoid the long story, I'll just say I've ended up with two identical rods. I bought one and now have had one given to me. I bought it specifically for deep crankin. It's a Duckett 7'11" MHM crankin stick. I spooled 10lb Sunline fluorocarbon on a Lews 5:4.1, in it and it's a great deep cranking rod. Now, what to use the other one for is my question. What other application could I use that rod (I gotta get a reel yet) for? I'd hate to just have that nice rod just sitting around not using it. I was thinking about big jigs, spinnerbaits, buzz baits etc, but thought they'd need more of a fast tip, right? HELP! Lol
  3. I contacted Mike at DVT. Got a reply already. Very impressive, especially on a Sunday. I will be sending off my Shimano for repair this week.
  4. Hi all, I'm looking for someone good and trustworthy that I could send my reels to to have them cleaned, lubed and, if needed, repaired. I know they all need cleaned and lubed and one needs repaired. I've tried to take apart and do myself, but I'm just not confortable doing it and would rather pay someone to do it right. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff
  5. Hey all, I'm doing some service, (cleaning, lubing etc) on my reels and I can't seem to figure out how to remove the handle nut cover from my Revo STX. It's not a normal nut cover like most reels. It's just a flat oval plate with two little screws attaching it. I removed the two screws, but for the life of me, I can't get that plate off. Anyone have any secrets or ideas? It can't be that difficult. Thanks, Jeff
  6. Just ordered my new set-up......Duckett Micro Magic Cranking Rod 7'11" and Lews BB1 Speed Spool 5.1:1. I also ordered line. I decided to go with Sunline Reaction FC 10lb. Can't wait to get it and start crankin' up the big girls!! LOL!!
  7. WOW! That Tatsu line is Expensive!! I'm thinking I might go with 10 lb CXX for now and see how that works. I have it on one of my other set-ups and really like it. We'll see how it works for Deep Cranking. Thanks!
  8. Thanks to everyone for heir help and advice about setting up a new DD crankbait rod/reel. I think I'm gonna go with a "Duckett Micro Split Grip Cranking Rod 7'11" w/ a "Lew's BB-1 Speed Spool Casting Reel". I know I said my budget was $400, but w/my beautiful wife's help I changed it to closer to $300. (sarcasm. rolling my eyes, etc) But, anyway, I think that will be a great set-up. Now, I gotta get some line. I am not a huge fan of flourocarbon. I love P-line CCX, and would use that unless there's a flourocarbon that I could use that wouldn't curl up so bad off the reel that it was tough to cast. I've used P-line Halo in 17lb, and did NOT have good luck with the memory. I wanna go with a 10-12lb flouro for this "long" casting set-up, but can't stand line with a lot of memory. Maybe the lighter lb test will be better. I'm sure someone on here can suggest the "BEST"! Thanks, Jeff
  9. Thanks for all the replys. How about this?? - Duckett Micro Split Grip Cranking Rod 7'11" & Lew's BB-1 Speed Spool Casting Reel
  10. Hey all. I'm getting ready to put together a rod/reel combo for some deep cranking. I'm thinking I need something at least 7 1/2' long, MH & Moderate. Does that sound right? My budget is under $400 for both rod and reel. I'm fishing an old abandoned stone quarry with very deep, steep ledges and points. I'm mostly gonna be throwing Bill Norman DD22's and similiar. I like the looks of the Revo Winch 3rd Gen, but have no idea on what rod to get, or if there's a better reel for $200 than the Winch. Any advice suggestions would be great. Thanks. Jeff
  11. Just caught my PB today....6.2 lbs and 22", on an Eakins finesse jig w/4" Rage Grub.
  12. Hey all! BAM!!! How bout that one?! Pic's not the best, but she's 22" and 6.2lbs!! I'll take it!
  13. Got me a new rig this offseason. Gonna try some finesse fishing. To go along w/all my baitcasters, I got 1st spinning set-up. 7' Rage rod, mlxf, w/a Abu orra size 20 spinning reel, spooled w/Pline 6lb fluorocarbon. Gonna try some shakey head and flick-shake. Who makes the best shakey head jig and what size/weight would be best? And what other applications would that set-up be good for? Thanks all!! Jeff
  14. Hey all! Spring is getting close for all us Northern Midwesterners! I'm 45 years old and am looking for someone to fish with this season. I've been Bass fishing about 5 years, but always by myself in my little local lake here in NW Ohio. Looking to meet some people and expand my fishing area and skills. I only live 10 miles from both MI and IN borders, so can fish all three states no problem. Never fished IN, a little in MI, but hate to go too far away by myself. I have a small 14' boat w/trolling motor and small outboard. My work schedule only allows me weekends and every other Friday to fish. Hoping to get going in April, we'll see. Let me know.
  15. Great fish & story.
