The bass have figured me out
Try fishing slower, bigger baits, deeper water, and closer to the bottom. Let me know how you make out. I was in a similar situation and decided to change it up. My home pond where I have been struggling to catch fish all summer has really been giving me some trouble lately so I changed it up and yesterday a below average pond gave me the biggest bass I have ever seen in New England! Let us know how it works out. Remember as the season change the fish don't get "smarter", they just change their habits according to the weather.

Where do I get a good replica largemouth
Anyone know where I can get a good replica wall mount? Yesterday I caught a 7lb 12oz largemouth and released it. I believe this will be the bigget bass I will ever catch (around here) so I would like to have it stuffed, but I did not have the heart to kill it :-/. I took a few pictures and measured it (23" x 17") and I would like to find someone who can replicate the fish so it looks the same. Thanks in advance for any help. Oh yeah here is a pic ;D

Best finesse casting rod for around 100$??
Thanks for all the suggestions, I really did consider the bps rod even before my post. I tried it in the store and it seemed great. But, I found a website that sells obsolete ALL Star rods and bought a 6'9" Platinum series "tops and tails" rod..............AWESOME! Yesterday I shattered my personal record with this rod!! 7lb 12oz! So yeah, I'm all set!

My new personal record large mouth!
Just so excited I wanted to share my new personal record largemouth bass. 7 pounds 12 ounces!! Might not seem like much to some people, but this is the biggest fish(bass) I have ever seen in RI! I am so glad I am the one who caught it. Just dragging a red powerworm over a stump on Tiogue lake at 11:30am Tuesday morning. I was using a 6'9" all star platinum tops and tails rod, Revo STX, and 10lb P-line CX premium and a tru tungsten 5/16 worm weight and true turn blue bass 2/0 hook. Of course I released this bad boy and am open to suggestions where I can get a good replica mount. Thanks, Shawn

Water on fishing Reels?
Swear to god my Dad has been a tournament Bass fisherman for over 40 years and when his reels start to squeek he dunks them in the pond. Honest to god!! For 40 years!!

Best Mono?
Oh, I know I'm gonna get nuts over this, but I think big game is cheap crap. I am not all that impressed with seige either. Stren Original is the ONLY mono woth it's weight. I have reeled in fish out of rock beds with line so frayed it looked like old rope. Stren is strong!

YO-ZURI HYBRID?
Listen to Roadwarrior..this man knows! Use the line conditioner especial when tying knots so it dont heat up. I run the hybrid on 3 out of 9 tournament rods. I have proven that it gets "bigger bites" Fishing Senkos with Dad he catches 5 bass under 2 lbs using stren mono. I catch only 3 bass.....al three over 5lbs! on the hybrid that is big for RI. Oh yeah .. and ALWAYS check your line and retie often!

Why is the reel handle on the right hand side?
I only use rh retrieve baitcasters because my coordination is better with my right giving my retrieve a smoother ride. This is the most important factor in successfully fishing a spinnerbait. If you notice the pro's that you are laughing at on tv are starting to learn how to cast /pitch /flip left handed so they won't have to switch hands. Denny Brauer is a great example of this.

Looking for a new spinning reel
I used to have a lot of problems with line twist on all of my reels while skipping gitzits or senko till I started using swivels. (Thanks Davy Hite!) Any time you fish something fast on spinning gear that turns in the water the line gets twisted. (from the bait rotating not the reel)

throwing light baits on baitcaster?
I am sorry, but I would not be caught dead cranking in a 1/8 buzz on a spinning setup for a day nooooo way! Monday I will let you know how the Revo STX does. that is what I ordered it for. I was using an old Abu MagPlus ext but it finally crapped out on me. :'(

Looking for a new spinning reel
Ther is not enough room here to decribe my line choices. Simply put , mostly 8# fluoro or 10# copolymer. I take 9 rods to every Tournament and the only two with the same line are my jig rods One 40 series Pflueger trion for skipping jigs and One Quantum Energy B/C for flipping/pitching jigs. Both loaded with 40# PP Spectre Braid. Hope that helps.

Looking for a new spinning reel
:-?I have a pile of em in the garage! They all spin backwards because the antireverse pins break. No more for me. How many is a pile and how did you break them all , I never heard anything about the problem you seemed to have with them. Just curious. A pile of Shimano's which is a few ix/ 3 tx/ 2 symmetre/ 1 stradic an 2 sonora. In answer 2 the question why would I keep buying them......I thought I would buy my way away from the problem by spending more money ..not so. Don't feel bad Shimano I have a few Cardinals in that pile. And 1 cheap Diawa oh yeah and a Quantum Optix. The main reason I bought Shimanos was for the Quickfire then I just moved on from there. Plus I used to love their baitcasters so it was kind of a loyalty issue

anyone experiencing Breakoffs with PP Spectra Braid 50#?
I am a huge Power Pro user and have never had a "bad batch"Oh wait I DID a few years ago I bought the yellow 10 pound and replaced my yozuri 8 pound with it. Every Time I set the hook it broke!! I thought it was just thier light line and have continued to use the 40#. One day I wresled with a 5# bass under a stump for over 20 minutes before I could get the stump up enough to get the fish out from under it!!! So I guess it's a crap shoot. My 16 year old has had the Stren Super braid on for three seasons now and no problems to speak of (he is a Junior Bass member) If he gets stuck, I just make him pull the boat over himself LOL But really the Stren is STRONG and holds it's color. No red though. :-/

Looking for a new spinning reel
Yeah, what he said 40 bucks @ basspro. Even better is the president 35 or 40 series for 60 (10 bearings as apposed to 7 woohoooo) I only use pflueger spinning reels and 9 of my rods are rigged with them! Hey, as a matter of fact this 6 1/2 came on that exact reel (Trion 4735gx)

Best finesse casting rod for around 100$??
Now I need a good med light rod for casting 1/8 oz baits to go with my new reel.
-
Newbie makes first purchase!
For your first set up, I would not use braid, Spool that badboy up with good old fashioned Stren Mono! Braid is great for jigging, but has a tendency to bury itself in the real after catching a decent fish and screwing you on your next cast. The mono will give you time to get used to the real and be VERY forgiving. Flouro will snap right at the real after a few overruns. When you are ready I prefer P-Line flouro 12-15lb. I also opt for PowerPro Spectre 40# in the braid department. Just to give you an idea. The 6 1/2 bass in my Avi was brought in on 6lb Yo-Zuri hybrid.

Light tackle baitcaster??
Thanks for all of the input, but after several rips to Bass Pro, Sports Authority, and Dicks I could not pass up the tackle wharehouse sale on the revo sxt I got 2 coming. I love the way they feel. I wish I would have waited a few more hours did not know the prm was on sale that cheap ..oh well. Now I need a Good ML rod for this real. I am really considering the BPS pro finesse rod. Checked it out today and it feels real nice (100 bucks is real nice too) Any input??

Light tackle baitcaster??

Light tackle baitcaster??
Hi guys, I am looking for a great reel for casting light tackle. Like 1/4 oz, jigs or buzzbaits gitzits etc.I got the money for my birthday, so.. I am kinda hot for this, but don't kn ow where to spend my cash I am leaving my price range open so that I get a wider variety of opinion I do have 200 dollars, but that doesnt mean I have to spend it all my last baitcaster for light tackle was a abu ambassedeur mag plus ext with Ultra cast single ball bearing technologyLOL not that funny though, that real was over a hundred bucks like 15 years ago and outcasts my Quatum Shaw Grisby real by a long shot. I am not new to baitcasting, I just don't want to buy another 100 plus real that cant cast light tackle for crap. Thanks for any input (the more the merrier), Shawn
