  1. Power pro is garbage, everytime I go to it all I do is break off. Buy Sufix 832 in 50 lb to Sling frogs and 65 for the slop , mats and heavy cover. Izorline is fantastic and stren sonic braid is good too.
  2. Going to Okeechobee on my own for the first time ever, going with a buddy that's got an older nitro. What's the bite been like? Where they biting? Not asking for specific spots, just a good area to start on my own and get a feel of the big lake. I'll pass on my findings and info on Sunday or Monday. Maybe I'll go back out on Sunday
  3. I fished mike lendls flip fest tournament as well last Saturday out of a borrowed early 90s 19 nitro, ended up 7th with 20.67 after a 2 dead fish penalties. (Unfortunately a dink in the well got stuck in the sucker for the recirculator and cut the oxygen levels for at least one cycle. And that was enough to send two fish belly up ) I Fished right out front but top 2 ran down l67 in search or clear water and found it, to the tune of 31plus (forssell/sayler) and 28 plus(deboliac/Sloan). Good guys though and they all worked for their finishes, even thouhj it seems forrsell always bangs out 30 plus lbs
  4. I'm fishing the tourny with a good buddy if mine tmm. Well see how i stack up
  5. Anybody been to holiday lately? I've been too busy with work and school to go.
  6. Fished on Sunday with Ricky deboliac out of holiday park for a KOTG club tourney. Super cool guy and great fisherman, we had 23.56 lbs, which would have been good for second, we were assessed penalties that knocked us down to 5/6 but it was still a great day. We had two 6+ class fish that were on both our lines but stuff happens and they didn't come in the boat. That's part of the game. I also had a 5/6 eat my jig trailer off in front of my face but what can u do. Flipping bite was on in the only major part of the system left to fish. Run around till you find better looking water and flip. You may run across the last of the 30lb canal bags.
  7. Vanish has to be the biggest trash I've ever seen
  8. Hey guys, heading back to the park today for the first time since my last post, apparently the waters come up and the waters muddy from what you guys are writing.. Am I better off fishing the north canal that runs to the alley?
  9. Idk broke a biggun off Friday and backed the drag off a little than a 5 bit and when I went to set the drag slipped on it and....yeah lol
  10. Idk man but I'm goin out tmm, hopefully the sunshine helps out
  11. I'm from Miami and we have peas everywhere so I'm not gonna target them, wouldn't mind to see a clown knife fish though. And Hb osbourne? Looks pretty nice from google earth. My goal is an 18 lb limit
  12. Just would like to hear if the lakes fishing good and even worth the 2 hrs of driving up
  13. Hey guys, thinking of heading up to lake Ida one day this weekend, all I hear is that the lake is alright and the canals are very productive, I would think in the lake that there would be a shallow bite in the morning with chatterbaits, bomber 2As, frogs, big ezs etc, and the fish pull off to the deeper grass beds where I can deep crank or throw a trap and a ten inch worm. Am I far off on that? I also hear that lake becomes a zoo after 11am though
  14. Yesterday was my worst day out there yet.... 2 2lbers and an almost 4 lber, the flipping bite is hard to do when it's slick cause these fish are so wary of the trolling motor they spook upto 20 yds away from the boat. Had to throw chatterbaits, topwaters but only short strikes and rolls, except for (2) 2 lbers. Regardless these fish I think are really pressured but then again I fish the same banks every time, time to was north next time...
  15. Thanks Lou, and yeah I get out of work at 3 everyday so If I don't have anything tht needs to be done I go, and in whatever conditions(nothin extreme though). I want to learn as much as I can when I can, plus today I might have a trick up my sleeve to get the big girls to commit
  16. Went yesterday, very frustrating, had so many big fish blow up and or go crazy on my bait but never got it. Shoulda had 30/35 lbs but ended up with 16 lol. Might be out there later to get redemption, I'll be in the jonboat
  17. Hey guys, I'm going to be heading up to lake okeechobbe soon in a 12 ft jonboat and a 5 hp motor. I'm going to be fishing out of clewiston since that is closer to me than anywhere else. I would like to know if it's worth it and if anyone could point me in the right direction of where to go then that would be awesome, my range is only 3,4 miles as well. I'm not asking for techniques or baits, I'd like to figure that out on my own. But I'd just like a little push in the right direction. Send me a PM if you'd like as well, I'll trade all the holiday park information I know for a little okeechobbe info. Thanks guys
  18. Good stuff man, I was in the white f250 with the jonboat in the back pullin in right as y'all were doing the weigh in, I sacked around 24 lbs, have yet to crack 30 even though I had a big fish roll on my jig and I as kept trolling motoring down I looked right where I missed him an there was an 8/9 just sitting there.... They change every day out there, not locations but how you have to Catchem, they were eating a jig flipped and swam right on the pad edges that day for me. But nice job on 29 lbs man!
  19. Holiday park still on fire, black n blue 3/4 oz jig flipping and chatterbaits are the way to go, and been gettin big boils and bites on a big river2sea rover (topwater stickbait). They bent the stock hooks out several times (looked pretty good but I guess not) replaced them with gammys and a size bigger on the middle so te bait sits more upright in the water(don't wanna change out that feather tail lol) maybe that'll up my percentages. Just run the south canal and anywhere past te bend is good honesty
  20. Just go down the south canal past the bend and start fishing a black n blue 1/2 or 3/4 jig and a 1/2 green pumpkin chatterbait. You can thank me later lol
  21. The sufix 832 is good but it loses color quickly, but it stays round forever lol I haven't got a spool of performance braid in 5 years since 832 came out and now in regretting it, it holds color great and has very good abrasion, it's a rougher line but after using it for a day it breaks in real nice Power pro is so hit or miss for me, I hear that. 40 lb breaks like no tmm
  22. Spiderwire is absolute garbaggio, sufix performance brad and steen sonic braid are fantastic. So are the high dollar seaguar braids
  23. I throw a reaction strike 6" swimbait in a bluegill color and it swims and runs nice even at a moderate speed, I've used a 6inch osprey but it's a b!#<# and a half to use, you gotta crawl it so slow and the line thru treble hook in the belly deal really tears the bait up, I wanna try the rago skt swimmer, looks like a good deal. Along wih the Byron velick 5.5. I throw it on my st croix legend 7'11" hVy power moderate fast action. It loads up really well on those baits, but you try and a whip out a big bait a few times and it'll prob crack and half lololol
  24. I'm fishin thick splatterdock/lily pad lines, with splatterwort underwater and reed lines against the bank. I'm pitching the jig to the edges and letting it fall to the bottom 4-8ft and hopping it twice and pulling it back In and makin another flip. Sunday the bite was on and the initial drop was all it took, yesterday it seemed like the water dropped another few inches and it messed them up just a little bit. Smaller fish were biting the jig and I had to hop it once or twice to get bit. So in other words pitch your jig around until you get bit, read where the bite came from and how you were working the bait and duplicate. And black and blue is a dirty water color, so If your fishing it In clear water than your really not giving it a fair chance, any les than 4 ft visibility is about where you wanna use it. Try using a green pumpkin/super bug/ okeechobee craw color on the back of your jig, that brown blending with that black and blue makes the jig look more like a bluegill which is really abundant down here. Sorry for rambling lol
