  1. X 2...I even croon , talk and on occasion, pretend to ignore the existence of bass in the hope they will prove me wrong....that does me as much good as scents....and costs me nothing...
  2. Save your money...as good an investment as waterfront somewhere very wet in Florida...😀
  3. For buzzbaits I tend to stick to black, white or Flo/white skirts. For topwater hard baits I experimented with all sorts of patterns and colours and have settled on a black back, yellow belly with a splash of orange. As I use prop baits, which I make more often than not, the body tends to spin a bit so all colours are visible from below at some stage. I have saved a fortune on paint now as I only use the above... Here is a pic of a couple of my baits in the above colours. They are not pretty but they do work pretty good....
  4. ictures to the post to aid/inform the reader.
  5. I guess it's a case of different strokes for different folks....or in this case, what may work on one body of water/part of the country, may not do so well elsewhere. I do feel this is something we loose sight of at times....I doubt their is such a thing as a 'universal' hot plastic/pattern combo ....If anyone knows of one...buy them all up....and make a fortune on Ebay....
  6. X2 Interesting...a new one on me. Must try to pick some up and give them a try....
  7. Indeed....a similar and equally good plastic from Berkley is the 4'' Mud critter....my stand-by if I I run out of Chiggers....
  8. Hi, went to the bother of finding the lure on the web for you...however as I have posted less than ten times I can't add a link/photo of the bait for you. Very odd rule but there you are...it's logic escapes me....and prevents new posters from adding pictures to the post to aid/inform the reader. So you will have to do it yourself. It's a prop surface bait. I make them out of wood in various sizes for bass and pike/musky, though these days many are of plastic....being a traditionalist I prefer wood...and I think they fish better. If you do a web search on 'Luhr Jensen woodchopper' all will be revealed.
  9. I know the feeling. Think it has more to do with the presentation that will trigger the bass into hitting. Frequently find they will take a buzzbait over all else, have done really well on the twin arm/blade models this season, where last season it was clacker single blade baits....and on other occasions they will only hit such as the jitterbug, hullapopper, or some of my home-made prop baits...I sometimes have to remind myself that the important issue is what they want on a given time/day....not what I want to throw at them.....be prepared to ring the changes....very rarely do I not find something in my box they want, but it happens now and again!
  10. Love em, love em, love em! My 'go too' bait when they don't want to open their mouths! Usually fish them texas rig....deadly along a deep weed line I have found!
  11. Tournaments are what they are...you pays your money and you takes your chances. Tournaments are appealing to me however the reality is that if I can muster enough $$$$ to gas my boat up for my seasons fishing, anything else is a bonus. Entry fees, accommodation, gas to the tournament, pre-fishing trips etc....too rich for my blood...and competing with the bass is good enough for me! Don't understands how those without some kind of sponsorship can afford to do it, unless regularly in the top three or so. For those that can afford to indulge....and possibly reward the few...enjoy!
  12. Yes, that had me puzzled too....for slow (and high in the water if desired) I always elected for colorado blades....
  13. Lake Ontario.....
  14. Hi Guys... Fortunate enough to live on the water and now in my retirement years have the opportunity to fish bass...and enjoying it immensely!
