  1. I have the ardent smart cull system and really like it. I got it because my other set (different brand) broke (2 of them). The ardent works really well and makes culling quick, especially when you're night fishing. It also seems to be well built with steel cables rather than the heavy duty mono looking stuff others use.
  2. I have been wondering this year a little about fishing lizards. My question is, what kind of success do you guys have during the summer, fall, and winter months using lizards vs. spring? I noticed I was getting a lot more bites on lizards in the spring / late spring, however since then, i'm not seeing very much action on them. I primarily fish highland resevoirs, mostly deeper clear lakes, structure consists of rock banks, laydowns, with very little natural grass to speak of. Any thoughts on your success rates on these would be helpful. I'm wondering whether to stick the lizards in the bottom of the bag at this point or if it's just something thats in my head.
  3. Excellent. Thanks for the help. I'm thinking about just upgrading to one of the tournaments and see how I like them, then maybe upgrade the rest. Any issues on weight with the st. croix vs. loomis IMX? I found weights online on the croix's but can't seem to find anything on loomis. I have fished my buddy's loomis rods before and they feel super light, he has several different varieties. Or should i be looking more at balance rather than total weight??
  4. I know people have opinions on rods like opinions on cars, however i would like to get some honest thoughts on a few rods. I am looking to upgrade some St. Croixs i have (avids, triumphs, premiers) to some better rods (though i do like the avids). I have considered the legend tournament as my upgrade but would like some opinions on these rods. I guess my one concern is the weight, so i would definitely like some input there. I figure more than likely you couldn't go wrong with a Loomis or a St Croix Legend. I have also considered carrot stix, love the look and feel but questions about quality due to duckett leaving. Can you guys provide some input / experience? This is my first post btw. so thanks for any help.
  5. Hello from East TN. I guess to summarize me the following will work: I have pretty much bass fished my entire life. I grew up fishing both for bass, trout, catfish, etc. When I came back to East TN from college, i guess i was trying to get settled in and got out of fishing for a few years. Over the last year, i have really made up for lost time. I'm generally on the lake 2 or 3 nights a week. I soak up every bit of knowledge I can get which is what brought me to this site. I love tournament fishing. I enjoy fun fishing as well, but the tournament fishing is what keeps me fired up. I guess i finally found some cheap therapy in a hobby that i really love (though cheap is probably not the correct word). Anyhow, I joined the forum to learn some things. good to know you all.
