my pal hit a few fish there, largemouth i believe. your plan with the timber sounds good. if not, you could always count on shiner and a bobber.

we were hitting the bass and pickerillo's up in stanhope, near Stevens state park... this 6.5-7lber hit the bass kicker frog through some thick slime. from the pic it looks like 5-6lbs but i was like 8 feet from the camera. wish i had the scale that day.

all great fish, and this is the most polluted state. pompton is a bit of a surprise. then again i do not hold the record pike...lol

I agree, the only other thing I could add is did it rain recently? I know at this weed choked reservoir by me, the rain brings more food, and the fish gorge themselves late at night. so when I go the next day or two, they are not hungry so you get the one or two you can make hit out of anger.

I am in the market for a new rod. I want something less than 7' that can handle worms, frogs, rattle's, spinners, and jigs. Basically an all around rod. My price range is 300 and below. Any suggestions? thanks, Jim.
