How to turn wife into bass junky??
This is a very interesting topic. I am retired and willingly do a lot with my wife. When we travel, it is my wife who suggests I stop at Cabelas or Bass Pro. I suggest to her we stop at certain antique stores. She does not really fish but I have made my 14' Lund "woman-friendly" for her with a comfortable beach-type chair. She usually just reads while I fish (our boat is the "book 'n hook") but will take up a rod if they are biting or if I have one on, she may take the rod and bring it in. I think it best not to push the issue but make the opportunity for her an easy and enjoyable shared experience.

what's best to cast w/baitcaster?
I am learning the art and science of baitcasting. I just purchased a "pre-owned" baitcasting combo - quantum accurist reel and 7' castaway rod. I basically have fished with anything I wanted on my spinning equip. I have read that certain "baits" are better on a baitcaster. What do forum members suggest for me? worms? crankbaits? surface poppers/plugs? spinnerbaits? I look forward to building some knowledge now during "cabin fever" season. Thanks

Buying a first all-purpose baitcaster rod/reel.....opinions?
Folks, Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have written down the various rods and reels and plan to go out and try them at the stores. I may just wait for the Bass pro sales, unless I see what I want at one of the small shops, where i prefer to "invest" my money! Please be encouraged to add more ideas for me. This is a great activity during "cabin fever" season! Thanks

Buying a first all-purpose baitcaster rod/reel.....opinions?
Folks, I am new to this forum and look forward to sharing and learning. I am pretty much exclusively a spinning gear fisherman. I was given a new baitcaster many years ago but never got totally comfortable with it. Now, I want to buy a baitcaster rod/reel to expand my fishing opportunities and experiences. I would like to spend about $200.00. I have been advised to consider waiting for a while until the spring sales start. I am open to any brands etc. Also, regarding the rod - 1 piece or 2 piece? All opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

Newbie from NJ and IA
Folks, My home base is NJ in the southern end near Philly. We have a vacation home in Iowa (my wife is from Cedar Rapids). I fish freshwater in NJ and IA and saltwater in NJ. I need education in the art and science of fishing. Whether I catch a lot or none, I'll still enjoy myself when fishing. I look forward to learning from the folks on this forum. Thanks
