How many #s?
I just installed a MK 80 Max 24 V on my 285 Pro and I think it's ideal. I replaced a 46 MG 12V that wasn't even in the same league. Anywhere from 65-80 should be idea. I was able the get the Maxxum Pro with the lift assist shock and it's worth if you can afford it. Tim

Carpet Replacement
If you have trouble getting it to release you can pour Acetone on it and it will disolve the glue, but be careful. This stuff is very flammable and the fumes will overcome you quickly. You can use 3-M spray adhesive to reinstall your carpet also. Just make sure you buy marine carpet, it has a rubber backing. Most come with 16-18 oz. original in them. Tim

storing boats
Make sure the livewells and pumps are empty, take the plug out and jack the front up to drain the transom area. Make sure and run your bilge pumps to drain them and the hoses on them if you have them. You can pour the RV antifreeze in the bilge area but it's not to good on pumps.Windshield washer fluid will work better.Let the motor down to drain the lower unit and leave it down to let the water continue to drain. Take your batteries out, charge them up and store them in a warmer area if possible. Do not set them on concrete. Pour stabill in your gas tanks and run the motor to get it to the carbs. This should take care of you. ;D Tim

Trolling motor recommendations
Thanks for the replies. I have decided to go with the Maxxum Pro 80 with 42" shaft. What type of plug do you recommend up front ? Just a new replacement or the Ranger style?

I am ready to buy a trolling motor to install on a '89 Stratos 285. I am fishing in East Tn. on local lakes. Maybe some tournaments in the future. Will be bow mounted and foot controlled. Give me your thoughts and preferences on brands, models and torque. Thanks in advance Tim

Stratos
Hey guys give me the good and bad points about Stratos boats. I have found a '89 285 Pro with 150 VRO ( disabled oil pump ) Johnson on it. Needs a little TLC but looks and feels mech. sound. Asking price is 4200.00 for it. Has Soddy Daisy sticker on the jack plate with a SS prop. The Soddy Daisy sticker is from a prop shop locally. Thanks in advance. BTW great forum. Tim
