They are both rated the same ML/Fast 1/8 to ½ oz. The top one is a St Croix 7' ½ and the bottom is a 7' Dobyns. Do I r eally need that much butt? I want to be able to cast it as far as possible.

I would like just some basic info on deeper lakes. During nonspawn time: Knowing that smallmouth are a bit more active when it's sunny, basically how do you fish differently when it's a cloudy day? Is it more of a depth, retrieve speed thing, or type of "bait".

I'm from the NE. When mapping for new smallmouth spawning grounds what's the minimum depth you look for that's near potential areas?? I'm talking about a lake that has water 30ft or more deep. I have no idea how far the sm travel to spawn or how deep their wintering grounds are.

I live in NH and lakes here have no shad---we have mostly blue gills, yellow perch and smelt. I've spent the last hour googling my a** off... with not a clue if a hydro is worth considering. Please if there is a kind hearted soul out there in the internet stratosphere, please give me info or links they know of...

Why? Because I'm lazy, yea, but many times throught the day I'm swiching baits back and forth and I need them at hand and not in a pile. I also saves on having big boxes lying around when your just going to use a couple ot things out of a box. I thought of wool too but that would just get soaked.

I once saw a boat that had a "hook organizer" that was "built in" and ran along the bow inside gunnel. It went out about 6", and downward to the deck like a wedge and he had all the hooks he was going to use for the day inbedded on it. I don't know if it was a DIY or came with the boat that way. It was covered in some type of carpeting. My question is what type of carpeting would work to hold the hooks BUT would not be a disaster to pull the hooks out.
