best quick release mount for the Motor Guide Xi5?
I installed the Aluminum 8M0092064 quick release mount when I upgraded to a Xi5 this year. I've been out twice with it at two different lakes. So far, it works great! Very quiet with no clunking like the old mount had. No issues with roller clearance when loading the boat. It was easy to install and bolted to the motor with no problems.

Lowrance 7ti or hds 7?
I debated between the HDS 9 gen3 with 3d and the Elite TI 7 for the past month. In the end, I'm just a weekend angler and I personally was having a hard time to justify $2800 for the HDS unit. I've always been basically a bank beater so I didn't use my old fish finders to the best of their abilities. I do want to try this year to get away from the bank and catch more offshore fish so I wanted to upgrade my electronics. I like the larger screen and the 3d for sure of the HDS 9. Wish they had an Elite TI in a 9" screen. I don't know that I would ever use networking so that was not a concern. I did recently upgrade to a Xi5 with gps TM so I wanted a unit that would interface with that. I like that the TI7 can do chirp, downscan and sidescan out of the same transducer. I don't think you can use chirp and downscan at the same time??? Regardless, my Elite TI7 showed up today so that is what I deemed best for me. Really looking forward to the GPS and sidescanning.

Fuel Additives?
I have a 1998 175hp Johnson with carbs on it. I've always used Seafoam in the past. I just picked it up from the shop for a pre-season tune-up and the shop told me to use Mercury Quickleen in it. So I will be changing from Seafoam to Quickleen. It will be interesting to see if it makes any difference as the year goes on....

1 bait for the rest of your life
At this point in time, I'd have to say a 5" watermellon/blk flake Senko. I have a ton of confidence in that bait right now and it puts fish of all size in the boat for me.....

Buying first reel: Stradic ci4 overkill?
I'll start by saying that I absolutely love my Stradic ci4. One of the best reels I have ever owned. Very light and smooth drag and operation. If you have the money to buy it and put it on a quality matched pole, go for it! If your going to have to skimp on a pole because you spent $200 on a reel, you might want to reconsider. I have my ci4 on a Powell 703 rod and even my beginner girlfriend can tell a difference between it and her $125 spinning setup. I say you can never go wrong buying quality equipment. Makes fishing way more enjoyable.

Lake Fork Guide
I was at Lake Fork last March for a week. Day 1, I used Lance Vick for my guide. Lance did a great job for us. Not only did we catch some fish with him, he explained how and were to run on the lake, he gave us multiple places to fish for the week. Thanks to Lance, I was able to join the double digit club on that trip.

Predict Your Biggest Bass of 2010
Headed to Lake Fork the last week of March so I guess I'm crossing my fingers for a double digit. As far as my home state of Colorado goes, hoping to spend enough time on the water to catch a mid-4lb smallie at P-lo. I too plan to hit up raccoon city so hoping for a 7lb largemouth.

Monster Bass Or Numbers?
I always enjoy catching a big fish for sure but I'll go ahead and take the numbers on this one. I fish because I enjoy it. I love being on the water, spending time on the boat with my boys and enjoying the beautiful country we live in.

Successful fishing shows
A successful fishing show to me is one that is educational and entertaining. I like it when they tell you where they are fishing. A couple that I DVR are Bass Pro's, City Limits Fishing, and Fishful Thinker. I recently ran across another show called Hook n Look or something like that. I really liked that they dive and video what is going on below the surface. Cool to see how the baits look under water, how thee fish react to them and such. Going to be tuning in to it in the future.

New Guy from Colorado
I really enjoyed being a member of our local bass club. Met lots of really nice guys and learned a TON about bass fishing. I had young kids back then and it took up lots of time of the weekends so I left the club to focus on my family and kids. Just missed too many kid things back then. My youngest is now a senior in high school and I'm considering joining the club again.

What are your fishing Weaknesses?
Here are some of my weaknesses: 1. Probably my biggest is reading and understanding my electronics. 2. Being stubborn about trying new methods or new places on the lake. I seem to go to the same lakes, fish the same places that have worked in the pasts and fish the same baits as I've always fished.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TOPWATER LURE AND WHY??????
My favorite is a Rebel Pop-R in bone color. I do some modifications to the lip area and hooks to get it to work like I want it to. I'm not sure what it is but for me, it out fishes all other topwater baits combined for me.

What'd you get?!
My wife got me a Shimano Stradic ci4 spinning reel for Christmas. It's by far the most expensive spinning reel I've ever owned so I'm really looking forward to trying it out. Now I just need March to come as most of the water around here is hard.

Custom Painting - How important?
Screw matching the forage, it 's all about the bait looking kool and catching you. ;D About matching the forage, I don 't believe in the realism of the paint finish, the eyes of a bass do not provide them with the level of definition and detail we humans have, so an ultra realistic paint job ( I lived through the eras of the classic, foil finish, Photofinish and Guanim finish ) isn 't as important as a good lure action, a good presentation and in the right location, I have many baits from the different eras, the level of detail of the paint job is out of this world in the photo finish and guanim eras, they don 't catch more fish than other baits painted in the most classic colors ( silver/black, gold/black, blue/silver ). Matching the bait to the forage is more in your head than it is in the lure, make the lure like if it is alive and an easy prey and the fish will hit it. In my experience, this post if right on the money. Even though those custom painted baits look really cool, I question if they will really help you catch more fish. In the spring time, I catch a lot of smallies on clown colored suspending jerkbaits. I've looked and I don't see any clown colored baitfish in the lakes I fish.

Fishing Resolutions
This year I want to learn to use my electronics in my boat better. I've always been a bank beater and I want to be able to locate and catch fish that are not related to the bank.

New Guy from Colorado
Hi all, I'm 40 years old from Denver Colorado. Been fishing since I was a little kid and been bass fishing on and off for about 15 years. I was a member of Denver Bassmasters Club about 8-10 years ago and fished some local club tournaments back then. After some time away from bass fishing, I'm back. Bought a 190sx Champion last year and really enjoyed my time on the water last year. I mostly fished Pueblo Res and Horsetooth Res here in Co. Hoping to get a chance to fish some better bass water out of state this year. Would like to go to OK and Texas if things work out. Ron
