  1. I got a Villain 7'6" MH-F, Bait Casting rod and it is pretty light. I put a revo MGX 7.1:1 on it, and it was still pretty light. The balance was not so good though. In fact the center of gravity was about 6" forward of the trigger. So I did a little experiment, and scotch taped some quarters to the butt until the weight of the rig was centered in the trigger. $6.25 later and it felt great, but that added about 3 inches to the length. A friend of mine got a 7'1" M-M, and he also found that its COG was forward, but only 2". He hasn't stopped laughing at me long enough to tell you how much weight it will take to balance it.
