Help with swim jigs
I've just recently started using swim jigs and I've had some success in my pond but have yet to take it to the lake. My main frustration with them has been the inconsistency in the jigs not rolling over. Sometimes when I rig them (all with 4-5" single tail grub) they run true even when burned up near the top. Other times they will roll to one side. Am I not rigging the grub straight? Are the strands making the jig roll over? Any help would be hugely appreciated as I am going to the lake this weekend and would like to spend more time fishing and less time tuning my bait. Thanks in advance!

Orange lake 8/20/2010
My buddy and I decided to take the day off and head to Orange lake. The sunrise alone was well worth the trip. We caught about 5 bass apiece during the morning bite mostly on flukes worked near the top. After about a 3 hour stretch of no fish, my friend finally caught a little one on a wat/red speed worm. I immediately switched to that, and what do you know, next cast and I catch my pb. The timing couldn't have been any better as I made a nice cast to the next pad point I spotted. After slowly working past the point, I sped up the retrieve and that's when she nailed it. 6lbs 3 oz, but the head on her told me she was more like 9 lbs a few months ago. Some might say it was good luck or chance, but I know the timing was all a part of Gods perfect plan that included a little blessing for me that day. A great way to end the day with a great friend.

sickest topwater hit i've seen
I live in the same town as this guy and I have one of his custom frog lures on the way. He pulls a lot of big bass with those frogs. I would probably have a heart attack they way that thing hit. I just need to find out his secret spot.... Edit...I think he was using spinning tackle because the frogs are so light, I might be mistaken but thats my guess

Pond Fishing
I have two ponds and a small canal in my apartment complex. I know I am very spoiled as I can walk 2 minutes and be ready to fish. I've caught a few 4 pounders but nothing of huge size. I'm not complaining, but I am curious as to what the big daddy weighs in there. I caught 4 fish this morning using a speed worm. I've found this bait to be so versatile I almost use it exclusively (unless I get up early enough to throw some topwater lures). All in all, I love my ponds and I always catch and release. I want those fish to grow big and strong so we can meet again!

Ocala National Forest fishin
Took a trip to a small lake in the Ocala National Forest on Saturday. It was absolutely the best trip of my life. My friend and I each caught 17 bass and we each caught our personal bests back-to-back within 3 minutes of each other. We found a little honey hole off the beaten path that we actually had to beat down a path to get to! It was well worth the 20 minutes of boat dragging to get to our new bass heaven. Speed worms, shadalicious swimbaits, horny toads and flukes were killin em all day. My friend caught the 8 pounder and I got the lil 4.5 pounder!
