  1. 100% correct. I dig the baits to the nth degree. I've cashed a couple checks this year due in large part to the bait.
  2. The reason I've continued to fish it is that it has very high fiber density. It hasn't loosened like 832 or like PowerPro. It's also very smooth, nearly as smooth as 832. While it's not absolutely silent in the guides, it's also not a bandsaw, either. It's extremely slick and manageable in comparison to other braids. It has far better abrasion resistance than any other braid I've fished, far better than 832. The color is relatively fast, it hasn't begun to bleed and fade as yet. It's got very good behaviour on the spool as well. I'm fishing it in 40 and 50 and it lays perfectly.
  3. Nope, we haven't all owned a gimmick. I've never bought any of the "as seen on tv" lures. Oh, and in before Irene rests for the eve.
  4. Yes, I have been. It's my preference in braid at this point.
  5. Not one of those guys got to where they are from using someone else's waypoints. I mean, seriously, fishing at that level day in and day out is going to do nothing but improve your skill and ability to put together a pattern. Every one of them is a TRUE fisherman, they've nothing to prove.
  6. Meh, it's a reality show about tournament fishing, "The idea is to spice up bass fishing with new rules and a new format to give greater insight into what anglers go through and capture the drama to draw in more viewers, Rucks said." "The group was looking for less emphasis on the fish caught, with more emphasis on personalities, the struggles, the strategies, the conflicts and the emotions of the anglers."(Taken from Majorleaguefishing.com) Those two quotes are enough to turn me off initially. I could give a hoot less about the drama, I don't want entertainment in a fishing show. I watch for technique, experience, and education. You can pick up a tremendous amount of information from subtleties alone. Just want America needs, trash fishing television. It isn't bad enough Jersey shore is back for another round, now we have this. I'm disappointed at the initial look and thought process behind it. I think it's grasping at straws to grow the fan base by utilizing a format and media that has been otherwise successful. I could say a whole lot more but will hope to be proven completely wrong. I'm also curious, Sam, why you are of the opinion that if Duckett is involved it is a guaranteed first class operation?
  7. One is a result of the other. A lighter weight, more well balanced rod offers increased sensitivity. As well, there is more surface area of the line in contact with the guides, the results are greater vibration transmission.
  8. Really prefer the Gamakatsu Offset shank round bend. Go here: http://www.***/articles/senko-gary.shtml
  9. These baits don't work. At all. Move along now, nothing to see here.
  10. It's entirely up to you. It will dig on the spool on the hook set, and fighting fish, as will every other braid I've fished from 832 to TuffLine and everything in between. You can choose to tolerate it and just repack the reel as needed or get heavier braid. Contrary to opinion braid spool behaviour has little to do with carriers and smoothness. In most cases it has to do with tension and diameter on the spool.
  11. I shoot the hydra Shok in .40 S&W with a heavy lean to the 180grain bullet. It performs very well out of my gun at 15-20 yards, and carries tremendous energy inside those distances. So much so that it becomes a primary attribute and reason I like it.
  12. I hear it a lot. I can't say that I would give up my Cumaras or Loomis' for them, but they are a very fine rod for $100. I've fished them a few times and they don't suck. (Very different rod than the Browning. The Carbonlite is actually a carbon fiber scrim. Carbon behaves much different than graphite in a longitudinal comparison. Graphite has greater compression strength, while carbon has greater tensile strength. Because Carbon has greater tensile strength, it transmits vibration at different frequency and intensity.) The Browning rods are graphite.
  13. Most line through baits like those are worth the money. They last through many, many fish without being destroyed. Consider a single pack of hollow bellies cost as much as $9 and you're better off. Optimum has a line of baits that run around the $10-$12 mark, too. There's also the Zman baits that are SUPER baits for the money.
  14. Say what? Never heard of it in terms of blood cells. There's a neutrophil granulocyte, but Nanophil I'm not familiar with.
  15. Because it's pulled tight, there's enough tension on the line to make the connection. Braid will not twitch at the surface when slack, it's physics, man.
  16. Medium Cumara is a VERY medium rod. It's a rod designed for light baits and protecting light line. The better choice, by for for T-rigging small plastics is the 6-8 MH. I have the LTB in the 6-8 MXF as well and would prefer the Cumara MHF for the purpose.
  17. Need this color: Smoke(dark transparent) with small black, blue, purple, and large gold flake. It is a necessity.
  18. HUGE fan of them. That's all I'm going to say without a signed affidavit requiring more.
  19. I have tried the Carbonlite, it isn't a bad rod but I really dislike the components and the resins in the rod. (The latter appllies only to the MedMod). I've been continually impressed by higher quality rods by comparison, but was asked recently to test a Mojo Glass. I'm fishing that tomorrow for the first time, side by side with the Lamiglas and the Dobyns.
  20. It's a fun bait to fish, that's for sure. Not the "end all be all" but it works.
  21. Heyas all 'round. It's been some time since I fished Wheeler later in the year, and by later I mean anything later than July. I think the last time I fished it in October would be 12 years ago. I've got a tournament there in October, and am looking for some general direction as to what you think might be occurring. Like I said, I've fished it before and done reasonably well in the 4th quarter of the year. We tended to fish transitional areas and found a lot of fish in creeks, using flats in the feeders; not chasing schooling fish, but catching fish that were on schooled baitfish as they moved through. We also hit one extraordinary day fishing deep ledges and bluffs on the lower lake, catching mostly brown fish, but big ones. Anyhow, thought I'd throw out there and see if anyone had some general advice on it. Thanks in advance.
  22. In short, yes. In longer, more drawn out, answer, not always true. I'm more concerned about tooling and fit than I am about where it is made. The design of the internals and engineered mechanics has more to do with my decision than the country of origin. Part of the reason that I've always been happy with Shimano and Daiwa reels is that they're just designed better; and Yes the Revo line of reels is included in that statement. There is no opinion in that statement, it's fact that they handle torque, torsion, and lateral forces better than the competition. I think a huge part of that will transfer to any facility of manufacture, so long as the machine tools are engineered and put together correctly, as well as serviced and calibrated correctly, I don't really fear for longevity of the real based on initial origin. I also don't think a company like Daiwa or Shimano is going to blow their entire reputation by producing a piece of crap. While it has happened before, they also corrected it poste haste. I don't see them making the same mistake.
  23. Sensitivity can be paramount in cranking, many, many, many different aspect of cranking. I fish Cumara, Loomis, now have a Lamiglas and a couple others. The more expensive glass rods are worth their weight in gold, from my initial impressions of high quality glass rods. The lowest quality I would go on a crankbait rod is the St. Croix Avid, with the exception being the Premier Glass, probably.
  24. Not trying to be a schmuck, make sure with the micros that all of them have guides. It can be deceptive, I've had them pop out on other rods and not really notice that they're not in there.
  25. The Northland Crazy Legs Skirts work, as do the Strike King Perfect Skirts. They don't work as well as the flat rubber, mind you, but they work well enough.
