  1. Dang- big numbers in this post Darren ..truth be told, a good friend landed an 8.6 on the Small side just a month ago. My trophy hunt on HM has definitely begun- Cheers!
  2. Thats awesome- a huge confidence builder to hear this. Had a very productive few hours on the little side Saturday, including a 13# blue cat on a senko- but the big side is the place I want to catch em. Dad rowed me around there with nightcrawlers and bobbers as a kid, so when I daydream about a trophy, or getting jig experience, my mind reels to the big side of HMR. Thanks for the input buddy!
  3. Playing hooky tomorrow, half day on the lake and picking up a marriage license in the afternoon! Back to Harwood- So Ive fished both sides over the years, and have spent more time on the big (airport) side. never had much luck, until recently...on the small side. Folks always talk about the bass being on the small side (Grassy humps, matted in the back, sunken dam...) but i am dying to give the big side(open water, a decent looking submerged point or two, creeks and deeper water) a try- to get it out of my system mostly- but mainly since I havent fished it in years. My question: is the big side really that much less productive? Any locals want to sound off here?
  4. Sunday was pretty tough on the Chick. Water was 42 or so and pretty stained. Caught one Pickerel-bout 19"- on a swimmin image in chartruse, other than that just a couple sunburnt foreheads...Did see a 21 inch LM caught around 1pm near Eagles Landing (guys were Crappie fishing live minnows), but not on our boat.
  5. Great info! The lake has been a tough place for me, and a friend and I will be hiting Ed Allen's tomorrow morning. C-rigs, DS, SH, and a few pointers tied on. Big place for me as a boat renter, but I printed out a map of the main lake and some major creek arms this morning- that should help to manage the size of the lake.
  6. just bought the 39$ Tourney Plus- after about 50 casts it started making a whirring sound at the spool (just a dry sound)-i noticed no grease at all on the leveler so i assume its bone dry inside. ill keep the reel for light cranking (and to have an extra combo in the boat). hopefully a shot of hot sauce will eliminate the noise....... (any suggestions?) BTW- i bought the RC combo last year (7.1:1, on the 7' MH Spinnerbait rod) before they renamed and re-colored it and I am very happy with it. The reel is super smooth, and the rod is nice too.
  7. I'm here in Poquoson, Wdy- hit NN Park for the first outing of the year last weekend and grabbed a few healthy Chains in the 2-3.5 lb range-no bass tho.....was still a great time!
