  1. After you get "hooked" on night fishing, you'll find yourself loading the boat in the daylight more and more. It's just too hard to leave the PRIME time on the lake. Watch out for fog in early morning just before sunup, not so bad now w/GPS, but years ago it was easy to fish around an island more than once before you relized it. It don"t get any better than hearing the Plop Plop Plop of a JitterBug coming at ja and then the lake exploding or just sudden slience and your arm jerked off! When you are all alone its easy to focus on everything thats right with the world. Live like a mushroom, keep it in the DARK!
  2. 21xd & mrbassky, thanks for the reply! might try up river, and have had luck at Lake Fork w/swim baits this time of year. Went to Guntersville last Oct. but know everything is dif. now. Thanks again! Vance
  3. For river smallies a 3" salt & pepper grub on small saftey pin spinnerbait dragged along the bottom.
  4. Welcome from south central IN! Last time I fished PicWick we had a blast catching smallies on safety pin salt and pepper grubs. Several over 5lbs. Makes me want to go back!
  5. Welcome from south central IN. This is a great place to pick up information! My advice for tournaments is start out local, then enter one series of tournaments and don"t miss any. It's kinda like racing where you build up points to qualify for a bigger payout. If you consistently finish in the money or at least close but don't miss any, you might qualify for bigger tournaments.Fishing for bigger payouts than local clubs makes it more interesting!
  6. Thought it should be post spawn, will prob look for shell beds, or stacks of staged fish off points if there is much current. anyone know this water this time of year to help me out? C&R ONLY!! Vance
  7. Left part of a prop down around Mt.Vernon (Wren Lake) .You aren't too far from Lake Egypt, one of my favorite power plant lakes in So. IL. Good luck fishing .
  8. New here ! Haven't even had much time to lurk. Knew this would be a good forum right away! Fished tournaments back around the turn of the century, quit after wife complained about not knowing what I looked like anymore! Did find out you have to pick one tournament trail and not try to fish them all! Fishing for pleasure now but after reading it makes me want to start again. Going to Guntersville the last week in April. Enjoy reading about new products and patterns, never to old to learn. willing to talk anytime!!
