  1. As with the others, I'd be happy to join you sometime. I have no specific knowledge of the UP but have caught a few fish in my lifetime. I'm sure that we could find them...
  2. Likewise. I've never seen anyone work over a lay down as thoroughly as you. It was Denny Brauer-esque! All the best Josh.
  3. It was real nice meeting you DC! I'm glad you were able to catch some fish. Did you take any pictures? Unfortunately - no. Wife stole the camera out of my tackle bag... The only evidence that I have at this point is a sore thumb! Take it easy.
  4. I had a great time today fellas. It was nice meeting you all. Looks like you were having your way with the crappie when I cut out. All the best.
  5. Thanks ANF. Sorry that we missed you. Unfortunately, that's it for me this weekend. Good luck with your work stuff.
  6. Let's do this. I really don't care where we put in. I just want to get out there.
  7. No - hadn't heard of it. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still planning to head out tomorrow morning. Sent A.Do a PM. Who else is in?
  8. Wish I could make it out! Good luck though. Let us know how you do! Thanks Jake. I appreciate it. Will do.
  9. That would be great. I'd love the company.
  10. The difference in distance doesn't matter to you? What type of fishing do you like the most? ie: do you fish crankbaits/spinnerbaits/finesse/plastics/jigs/etc? Are you comfortable fishing deep? No sir! I will gladly travel for good fishing. I'm a junk fisherman... Haven't met a lure that I didn't like. That said, I'm a bit limited in deep water since I haven't mounted my depth finder yet.
  11. Thinking about taking the yak out Friday morning and hitting the Potomac... If the storm holds out, it should be pretty good fishing (I hope). Anyone interested in joining? I was debating b/w Mattowoman and Occ River but am definitely open to other suggestions.
  12. Congrats A.Do! That's a great looking bass. Well done. Gotta love the PA.
  13. Sounds great. I'd also be happy to host if there's an interest in meeting in Vienna. If not, will travel...
  14. No sir. I hit Burke on Friday but was nowhere to be found on Saturday. We had friends in town from NYC, so we went hiking in the Shenandoah. That said, my Pro Angler is dark green. I hope to see you out there. How did you do at Burke? My buddy and I have sworn off that place as we always get skunked there. You wouldn't by chance were at Burke maybe 3-4 weeks ago on a cold, windy Saturday? I chatted with someone in a dark green Hobie there. Nope - that wasn't me. I caught one on a red crawfish-patterned Mimic crankbait. Fishing was toooooough but it was a gorgeous afternoon.

  16. Congrats! I've got an Eagle Cuda 350 that I plan to mount on it (together with a ram mount and a Cabelas 12V battery), but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I'd love some company if you're looking to set yours up. I'm out of town at the moment but will return next week. For what it's worth, I was also thinking about getting a push pole for sight fishing. Haven't pulled the trigger yet...
  17. Makes sense. Thanks Andrew. Looking forward to getting out. I'm getting stir crazy, especially since my buddy sent through a pic of a 12.68 lber that he caught earlier today on Toledo Bend. Killin' me!
  18. Got it. Thanks! I guess it would help if I read the entire post. Still working on reading comprehension...
  19. Great info! Many thanks for your replies and kind remarks. I've got Occoquan and Mattawoman circled on my tidal Potomac map. Not sure what "Pony Pasture" is but I'm sure I'll catch on eventually... Kayakist - I appreciate the invitation. Count me in. I assume that it's navigable with a mirage [pedal] drive (or was that the Pony Pasture reference)? JCrzy4Bass - thanks for the specifics on the River and launch site. Much appreciated. All the best to you guys!
  20. Thanks for the warm reception! A.Do - good luck with the sale of your outfitter. You will not be disappointed with the PA, although it is a beast to load and unload. I picked mine up at Backyard Boats in Woodbridge. Please loop me in the next time the "Hobie Gang" is headed out. It sounds like a pretty exclusive group of left handers? I dribble and shoot left handed - does that count? All of my reels are right hand retrieves (dominant hand). That said, I've been meaning to pick up a left handed retrieve for flipping. Ernie (kiko13) - the more, the merrier! I'd love to meet everyone. Soccplayer07 - I grew up a Cowboys fan (up until the Jerry Jones era). I'm now a proud Texans fan. Truth be told, I'm more of a college guy. Gig'em Ags!!!
  21. Good stuff! Thanks for your reply. I fished out of a Hobie Outback for approx 5 years before throwing down for my Pro Angler. They're great kayaks/boats. Would love some good SMB action... A buddy of mine from TX is coming out to DC this summer (4th of July) for that very purpose. I was thinking the about hitting the Susquehanna (sp?) but the Upper Potomac would be great as well. If you're ever looking for company up that way, I'd love to join you.
  22. I've noticed that there seems to be a good group of NoVa folks on this site. I'm new to the area, having recently relocated from Dallas. We set up shop in Vienna and I'm anxious to test the local waters. I was able to get out a bit in the fall (Burke, Occoquan Res, and Frederick) but I have yet to test the mighty Potomac. I'm fishing out of a Hobie Pro Angler and I was hoping that you guys might be able to point me in the right direction... Where can I go on the tidal Potomac without getting run over and still stand a chance of catching a few LMBs? Many thanks! I look forward to seeing you guys out there.
