I use either a Ugly Otter, Sweat Beaver or a Speed Worm with a 3/16oz weight. They go thru the weeds well and you get great action on each bait. I seperate the tail and arms on the Ugly Otter.

I fish every weekend from January till June. Then I have the honey-do list so don't get in as much time till September, then it's every weekend after that. I'm very fortunate that my wife supports my fishing and will go with me if I don't have someone to go
Out here in the West, we use the spider jig alot. Our lakes are very deep and normally we use a 3/8 to 3/4oz football head with a spidergrub. In the winter, sometimes I'll use what we call a "1ton" jig, which is a 1oz football head jig with a spidergrub. Very effective in deep water
