Best Conditions For Fluke?
I know the basic rigging (weightless t-rig), but am unsure of the retrieve, depth to fish and when and where and how to fish it?? I fish in the pressured waters of southern cali and I don't hear many people fishing flukes. I have a few packs and would like to try them because I keep reading good things about them. I was also thinking of deep carolina rigging them in place of brush hogs but haven't tried yet. Good or bad idea? School me on flukes! Thanks

best winter golf course pond lure/color?
I just fished the pond today in the tube for two hours from about 2pm-4, got skunked. I fished a black/red flake GYCB Kreature, and black/red sweet beaver, and watermelon GYCB Grub on a T rig, but also tried a split shot rig , mainly pitching towards the tules that surround the out border of the pond. It was very cold in there today, and the wind was blowing hard. Made a few casts towards the middle of the pond then hopped and dragged as well. I think its just too cold for those bass, I'm hoping it will pick up when the weather heats up. What is a better tactic- pitch toward and parallel to tules or focus more on the middle of the pond?

best winter golf course pond lure/color?
I found a new pond that i started float tube fishing here in southern california. the pond is surrounded by tullies, maybe 60x20 yds, and maybe 8 ft deep in the middle, maybe a lil deeper, and very stained and murky. the temperature here has been around 55-65 in the day and 40ish at night so the water is probably pretty cold and it felt that way through my neoprene waders. what is the best lure to be using right now? I caught a 2# kinami gycb grub in watermelon, but that was the only fish of the day. i keep reading about jigs so i picked up a couple and plan to use gycb kreatures, zoom baby brush hogs or sweet beavers as trailers or I will T-rig them if too much weeds get caught on the jig. What would you use and how would you use it for this pond?

Fish Finder under $150
How does the Eagle 300 compare to the HB 170?

Fish Finder under $150
I'm leaning towards the 170 for economic reasons unless a better option presents itself, but thanks for the heads up on the 570.

Fish Finder under $150
Thanks for the replies. The eagle is a little out of my range, but if I were to spend $200 I've read good things about the Humminbird 570. Good to hear about the 170, I just might get it from BP if I don't find any better deal. I found this http://www.kayakbassfishing.com/kbfbb3/viewtopic.php?f=144&t=4616&p=40063 for mounting and should cost less than $10 and do the same thing as the kit if not better.

I'm looking for a graph for my kayak. Basspro has the Humminbird Piranhamax 170 for $90 - any good? If not whats a good graph in my price range?

Swimbaits vs flukes
So soft swimbats are pretty much cast and retrieve, varying speeds of course, whereas soft flukes are fished stationary meanin twitched and slowly worked back? Am I on the right path with this - i have caught very few fish with these baits and would like to change that. thanks

Diamond Valley Lake, CA
I'm fairly new to bass fishing and I'm planning on renting a boat there next week with a buddy. Never been there and don't know the lake. Where are good spots to try(depth, area, etc)? and what rigs/lures are catching bass? I've got some baby flukes, yum dingers, 4.5" roboworms, baby brush hogs, lizards, a few cranks, and spinners to try out. Any particular bait that kills it out there? If I see a boil of stripper I know I'm gonna throw something at them, maybe pick up a big trout swim bait or a buzzbait or something. Tips or suggestions welcome

How do you rig a Yamamoto "Kreatrure"?
Can you swim the gycb double tail grub w/ skirt the same way as the kreature?
-
Fishing baby brush hogs?
Tried t-rig today w/ no success, but it was a slow day b/c of the rain. Are these effective swam back like the gycb kreatures?
-
Fishing baby brush hogs?
Got a pack of these but haven't had any luck with them yet at the local pond. What is the best way to fish/rig these? swim them back or fish em like a worm?

Dropshotting in shallow pond from shore?
I always catch on a senko on the drop, but havent caught much else after working it. what am i doing wrong?
-
Dropshotting in shallow pond from shore?
Thanks for the replies. When working it from shore, how should I hold the rod? When twitching I know the rod will be up a little more than parallel with the ground, but how about while reeling in? Should be held down correct?

Dropshotting in shallow pond from shore?
I've read a lot of articles about the effectiveness of the drop shot, so I'm gonna try my luck at it from shore. I fish a very shallow pond - about 5 ft deep at most is my guess, and it tapers and gets very shallow as a few inches getting closer to shore. How long should my leader (length from weight to hook) be for worms(finesse, senko, and an occasional fluke)? How should I work it? drag it? twitch it? drag and pause? Thanks for your advice Andrew
