  1. Hello All, I wanted to find out what is the best method to fish a particular spot when the winds start whipping through. Here's my situation. I want to use a drop shot or C-rig over and area that around 15 or more feet deep. Is it best to anchor down? or perhaps just use a drift sock? or perhaps just use my trolling motor against the wind? With these rigs i'd prefer to not be blown around by the wind having my baits constantly moving around.. As I understand it, especially with drop shotting, I want to have my bait fairly stationary in one spot.. The winds where I live can kick up at any time from 12 mph to 2m mph or even more! Any advice would be appreciated...
  2. If I wanted to fish the Fat Ika in deep water what would be a good sized jig hook to use? would a 1/4oz or smaller size work okay? I was also wondering if I should rig it the same (skirt up) for deep water weighted presentation or should I rig it with skirt down? I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not...
  3. Hello, I was out fishing at my local lake towards the evening time after a very hot day but it was still pretty windy out in the middle of the lake (winds from 15 - 20 mph) and I was having no luck in the shallows (3.5ft and less) but I noticed fairly large pockets of fish in the 20+ feet level, some perhaps 3 to 4 feet above the ground. I was kind of at a loss of what to try because I mainly fish shallow waters for Bass. What would have been some good tactics to employ? I have several Deep running crank baits and several various weight spinner baits. Do spinner baits work good for deep fish? What kind of weight and color should I be throwing and how should I retrieve it? Would a weighted texas rig senko work in this situation? or would a carolina rig setup be better? How should I fish each application? Also, I'm curious about the ol Jig and Pig.. what color and method would be best for fishing deep water? Lastly, If I'm fishing open water like that, should I just drift in the boat and let the wind take me or should I drop the trolling motor and slowly troll in a straight and narrow path? Any advice would be great! It took me almost two hours to finally land a bass in the lilly pads using a weightless texas rig worm. In MN these days it's getting pretty hot so I'm figure the Bass are going to be moving into deeper water by the time the afternoon hits so I really need some advice! Thanks in advance and patience with so many questions! One last note.. The waters that I typically fish are stained green becoming a little more clear in the shallows
  4. As i'm keeping my eye on the weather reports on a daily basis I'm wondering if fishing in 15 mph winds is too much wind. What do you guys think?? I was out on a lake at one point where we had wind gusts up to 25 mph which was WAY too much wind.... How windy of a day will you guys go out on?
