Rods that don't list tip aciton type
I went to a local Gander mountain and foundseveral Gander mountain rods that I was interested in. When looking at these rods they list the rod action (i.e. Med, med-hvy and etc.) but they dont list the tip action. Would it be safe to assume they are all "fast" action tips? I was looking at the Titanium series rods to be exact.

weight color?
Is there any significance of weight color? I'm getting ready to order some tungsten weights that either come in black or green pumpkin color. I never gave much thought to weight color as I previously only used lead (grey) color weights but since I can only order these weights in these specific colors I wanted to get opinions on which I should order. I fish waters ranging from clear, green to stained waters btw... Thanks for any input!

Hats Off To the Oakland Raiders
Al Davis needs to sell this team to Amy Trask or any other owner that will let the coaches coach and let people do their job without interferance from a controlling stubborn owner like Al. It's sad to see this orginization become what it has because of ONE person. Kiffen himself was quoted as saying that he has washed his hands of the defense since only Al and Rob Ryan (the D coordinater that Kiffen wanted fired) discuss defense strategy. We Raider fans can expect more heartache and pain so long as Al has control. I can't even beleive I'm saying this but reality is a B***h and I was once a proud season ticket holder before I moved out of state. I'll always support the silver and black and the players that play for this team but I have to remind myself that everytime I purchase something of the Raiders I'm giving my money to a man (who is a legend and an NFL pioneer) who is to stubborn to realize that he alone is a huge part of the demise of what was and hopefully will be again a proud, dominating force in the NFL. >

Swim Bait color
I've tried a search but didn't come up with an answer I was looking for so here's my question. I was wondering what color swim bait I should use in the lake that I fish. I've been looking at swim baits by SPRO, MattLures and etc and some of them have the soft swim baits while others have the hard swim baits. As far as the hard swim baits go dos it really matter if I go with a female bluegil or a male bluegil series hard bait or anytype of sunfish bait? I'm really at odds with the soft swim bait colors. I fish stained green to fairly clear waters so which colors would work best in that situation? Thanks in advance.

Hook size for Bass???????????
Depends on the size of the worm or what ever bait your using. As an example for texas rigging a 5 inch worm a popular size hook is a 4/0 EWG off set hook. At least that's what I use and I have great results.

Good BASS Magazines?
Can anyone recomend a good BASS magazine? Once upon a time I joined B.A.S.S. but I let the subscription run out. Would it be worth it to join up again? I'm looking for a couple of good publications on the subject. Especially one with less ad's and more content. Thanks.

Reel Spooler
Please don't take offense but I find that amazing. No offense taken! Everytime I bought line I just had the place where I go to spool the line do it for me as I bought more fishing gear. It's never too late to learn!

Lead Weights or Other?
Do you guys still use lead weights? I'm tempted to use Tungsten weights but is the cost worth it to replace my old lead weights? Are there any pros and/or Cons to using the Tungsten weights? Thanks.

Reel Spooler
So my next question is when spooling a reel do you use tape to hold the line onto the reel then spool it up? Since I've never spooled my own reels I'm unsure on how to start the process.

Cumara rods vs Crucial vs Avid
WOW, the medium feels that stiff? I was thinking about getting the MHXF to add to my arsenal. After reading your post I'm starting to second guess buying the Cumara. Do you know if the crucial feels that way as well?

Reel Spooler
Since I'm a complete newb to reel spooling I was wondering if someone can recommend a good home spooling system? Are they difficult to use?

Cumara rods vs Crucial vs Avid
I got to check out the cumara line of rods by shimano as was intrigued by them. I'm wondering how they stack up against the St. Croix Avids and if the price jump is worth it to go from the crucial to the cumara. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Particularly on the baitcating models.

Fishing line color prefrence?
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely be going with the ultra soft green then.

Fishing line color prefrence?
can anyone give me a good rundown on which color line to use in different types of water? I was on the Yo-Zuri web site in which I intend to use on my reels and since the water I tend to fish is a stained greenish color I was thinking the camo green would be the optimal choice but I'm not sure. From previous posts the smoke color (smoke purple?) would seem like a good choice as well. Any recommendations?

Zero Brake Setting for Casting Reel
I must be bad at bait casting cuz I set my curado to use 4 brakes!! I think it has a total of 6 in there.

St. Croix Rod power rating
Very good point sir... I'm thinking I should stick with the Avid Series.. so much for trying to save a buck!
-
St. Croix Rod power rating
;D I like your answer! straight and forward. However, could you elaborate a little bit on the differences? Are we talking mainly sensitivity? Quality?

St. Croix Rod power rating
Thanks for the quick responses! This forum has always been awesome. one other question though. I do have an Avid series rod that I purchased some time ago will I notice a big difference going down to the premier series?
-
St. Croix Rod power rating
I wanted your opinions on this. Do you guys think that the St. Croix rod power ratings are stiffer than other rod comapnies? My problem is that I have a new shimano saros 2500 spinning reel that I would like to pair up with a St. Croix Premiere rod but I'm having trouble deciding on wether I should go with a M or M/H power rod. I want to mainly fish plastics around cover (wood, around weed beds and etc..) and some open water. I'm a little concerned that the M/H might be too much rod for fishing senkos and other plastics weightless especially since I've heard that St. Croix rods are stiffer than other rods of the same power. Any opinions?

? regarding line size.
The last time I went out it did seem as though the line seemed tightly wrapped in the spool. I just got the reel re-lined with the same stuff so the next time i go out I'll be looking for that issue to see if I have the same problem. Do you still use spider wire line or do you use anything different now?

? regarding line size.
I'm using spiderwire stealth 8lb test on my St. Croix Avid 7' baitcaster. The rod is rated for 10lb line or higher. I'm assuming that this isn'ta real concern as far as performance goes, is it? Are there any issues to be concerned about when using a thinner diameter line on a rod that is rated for a thicker line? I'm using this with a curado 200d bait cast reel.

Fishing on very windy days
I need some advice. I'm going to be fishing this saturday in MN and the weather forecast is calling for winds at about 19 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. What methods/setup's work well for fishing in these conditions? I was just thinking about setting up a carolina rig and fishing for bass fairly deep 20-25ft. Will a senko work work well for this application? My main concern is having to deal with the boat being blown around so naturally I was going to anchor down throw the line over and hope for the best. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Gander Mountain Fishing Rods
What do you guys think about the Gander Mountain line of Rods? Are they worth the money or is it cheap trash?? I have to admit that I like the fact that if a rod broke that I could just walk into the store and get it replaced under warranty the same day. Any thoughts?

Texas rig questions
Do you use any kind of weight when t-rigging at this depth level? or do you fish it weightless??
