Rods that don't list tip aciton type

Featured Replies

I went to a local Gander mountain and foundseveral Gander mountain rods that I was interested in.

When looking at these rods they list the rod action (i.e. Med, med-hvy and etc.) but they dont list the tip action.

Would it be safe to assume they are all "fast" action tips? I was looking at the Titanium series rods to be exact.

Medium, med. heavy, heavy etc...all refer to the power of a rod

Slow, moderate, moderate-fast, fast etc...all refer to the action of a rod

No, I would not assume that the rods are all fast action.  I am not familiar with those rods but if the rods have applications listed on them (jigs, crankbaits etc...) then that would give you more of an idea of the action.

They don't list the actions but my Dad's GM rod's fish like a slightly soft FAST.

Test the bend point, 1/2 slow, top 1/3 med, top 1/4 fast.

stand the rod up on the butt and put your finger on the top guide and gently push it down. you will be able to tell the action as well as the stiffness of the tip. try this on your rods at home first to get a feel for different actions/stiffness.
