  1. Would more like to have seen a downsized Tat. to compete with the 50e. DAIWA WHY U NO LISTEN?!?!
  2. Auto or manual? Can you describe the "hucking and bucking" furhter?
  3. My dad's birthday was last week and I bought him a pair of 580 costa's, so this week he just got a wawa gift card haha!
  4. "Flow" kills time for me. Actually, thats the only game on my phone, FWIW, lol
  5. All you pretty much ever need is about 1/3 of the lines rated strength (except braid, the equation would be off). Remember is a chemically/surgically sharpened hook depending on the brand. Locking the drag down isn't really necessary unless your flipping it pitching into nasty stuff and you "have" to do it to actually get the fish out. I would say backing off would make a bit if difference. If you feel it's not tight enough to set the hook, put your thumb on the spool (assuming it's casting gear)
  6. For 90$, I would jump on it. But also remember, you can Bnib 580's on fleabay for sometimes 40$ more depending on how popular the frame is
  7. You are playing the fish to hard/fighting him too aggresively. Your ripping a bigger hole in the basses mouth with the stiffer rod when fighting the fish, and the hook is coming out easier. With play the fish a little softer, especially after a hard hookset
  8. I have a 673, so FWIW, close enough to me. 1/4 with trailer is about the sweet spot, 3/8 will push it, (unless your just pitching), but I wouldnt throw 1/2 on it. I also dont really like the length for jigs. I would opt for a longer rod, atleast 7' , especially if your from the shore.
  9. A special hat; it was a Rusty Wallace black and yellow MGD hat with the snap closure that my dad had when I was little. I wore that things everywhere and all the time. Then one day I guess it got lost or something. Ive been searching fleabay for years to find the same one. Found some similar ones, but not the exact same one.
  10. I work at Jiffy Lube, and its usually about the price of the filter +10%. Its one of the easiest upsales, but also one of the least profitable. But for people who often neglect there cars and maintenance, (atleast in my area), MSRP +10%(ish) is worth it for them to have us do it, rather than try to do something they have no knowledge of how to do (regardless of how easy it is to use the internet )
  11. Trust me, there will be many more powells in our future if you like that one
  12. I like it It makes sense and is a really good idea i've never heard of before!
  13. Good advice here guys, the more knowledge the merrier! What I think would be a good plan for now, and tell me if its stupid, is to mainly use the card for the purchases I make every day on my debit cards, (Lunch, drinks, smokes, gas, etc) and just pay it off right after, and then maybe like a $100 purchase and pay it off over 2-3 months? The repayment think is not an issue because I make almost $1200 a month, and I dont want to realistically go over 20-30 % of my limit. And A-Jay, that is interesting, I did not know that you can sort of prepay it seems like? So I would essentially put money on my credit line, and then it seems like it turn into a gift card essentially, with my money already on it, and I can make payments to keep my "gift card" up to the balance it was at, if I interpreted you correctly? That seems like a good idea to me!
  14. Glenn, didnt think it was blatant advertising or anything prohibited, will re-read FAQ's. Edit: Just read FAQ's, Glenn, expect a PM soon to clarify
  15. RW, didnt know policy had changed, as it was fine for a very long time. Will re-read FAQ's as to not mess up again
  16. I just wanted to do it today on my day off, and go fishing with it later, because its my only day off for something like the next 10 or so days. No big deal, I'll just get the free shipping, but I wish I couldve price matched it today and got to use it. (which Gander and Green Top respectfully declined) Oh well, i'll see it in about 4-5 days
  17. I have the 7' M/F casting. I actually really like it for what it is. Its really comfortable for me, (Which Is probably why I like it alot) I love the composite cork, the fuji acs, and dinky foregrip, The handle was essentially made for my preferences. And component wise, Fuji alconites and ACS, for $60 I think I paid, its a steal in my eyes. Blank wise, I like it, its not one of my powells, but I didnt purchase it expecting it to be, but if i'm in the market for another rod with a budget of $100, this would be my first choice all day.
  18. sadly the closest cabelas is 2 states away Guess i'll just be making a tackle warehouse order tonight 8)
  19. Has anyone had any luck with price matching TW price on the T3 Ballistic at BPS or Gander? Im looking to buy one, but If I can pick it up in person tomorrow I'd rather do that then shipping, but obviously if they wont match the price, I'll give my business to TW. Any luck with their price matches?
  20. If thats the case I find that kinda awry; If I want to promote a brand for free because I like them, I should be able to regardless of who/competitors sponsor the site. However, to the BR guys, im not trying to say thats is the case, I hope its not, but If it is, I think thats stupid, JMHO
  21. I just noticed today my signature changed. Did BR update and something went wrong? I know I had the brands I use in different colors down there, and only Seaguar and RageTail are left. Was there a policy issue that I broke? Or did something mysterious happen haha.
  22. Hey guys, I applied for my first credit card the other day so I can start building credit for the future, and for emergencies. I got approved for $700! Woo! Now I've read just about every online thing about building credit and they all seem to say the the same thing; make a couple small purchases every month and pay them off right away. But someone told me something else, is that to make a medium sized purchase, and pay it off over a couple months, because then you would actually have a debt that you are paying off, and that would build your credit faster/better? Is that just full of ****, or is that viable? Does anybody else have any good suggestions for building up my credit besides the obvious?
  23. I just read through this thread and me being an auto tech thought more of the mechanical side of why spinning gear may be more "funner" Like others have suggested, spinning gear is usually lighter powered equipment, which does make it "funner" But I see it this way, with a baitcaster, you have lets say average 8 lbs of drag. With a spinning reel I find the average is generally a little higher, tic for tac. So, with rods being equal, the spinning reel would be the better winch, but it doesnt feel like it. Because with a baitcaster, the direction you turn the handle is the same direction the spool spins, albeit a different ratio, but they are both going the same way, slightly offset, but the axis are the same direction. This provides less resistance and gives you the feeling of more tourque. But on a spinning reel, the axis of the way the handle spins and the axis of the way the spool spins are at a right angle, thus creating more resistance and a feeling of lack of tourque, making it feel like a harder fight of the fish. Just my sorta scientific mechanically inclined opinion. Sorry if I lost some of you haha.
  24. I would either go with the Avid MLXF or the Powell (Max or Endurance) that fits your length and price range in M/XF. I personally use my 6'8" Max casting rod (discontinued, dont know why!) for light weight applications in shallow water and it performs excellently for me! Balance is fantastic and the sensitivity is great, powell is a fanstic rod company that doesnt get a lot of mainstream love
