  1. What's a good bait casting rod for under $100? Also what size line would be good?
  2. I'm wondering the same thing... 8-)
  3. 6'6" to 7' MHF to HF rod, reel 6.2:1 upto 7.1:1 6'6" to 7' MF rod, reel 6.1:1 6'6" to 7' Med to MedHvy Mod tip rod, reel 4.8:1 upto 5.8:1Just my .02¢ Tight Lines!!! Thanks. 8-)
  4. I plan on getting 2 different setups...one for t-rigs, c-rigs and jigs and the other for spinnerbaits. I'm really not sure what gear ratios and type of rods to use with these baits. Right now i'm using a shimano baitcaster (6:2:1 gear ratio) and a 6'6 medium - fast rod. This setup seems to work best with buzzbaits and crankbaits. What would you all recommend?
  5. I don't think there's any grass mats in the lake i fish Mostly open (murky) water that gets about 25 feet max. Also, there's alot of wood cover but most of it is close to shore at around 2-10 feet.
  6. What's the best way to approach these conditions? Time of day, lures, depth...etc Thanks 8-)
  7. That helps a little...but my jig heads are round and have a weed guard on them :-[
  8. I figure it out I have 4" tubes and 3/4oz. Jig head with the weed guard....any links or pics someone can post?
  9. Thanks for the tips!! I actually love smaller diameter lines. My main setup is a quantum ignition combo spooled with Trilene XL....i've switched my other reels to yo-zuri and love it....guess it's time to change the Trilene XL ;D
  10. Thanks for the hlep guys! I just happen to have the setup (spinning reel with 6lb trilene XL) that you guys recommended 8-)
  11. Thanks for the link! My confidence baits are spinner baits, inline spinners, buzz baits and any type of topwater lure. I just got into river fishing. Up here in NEPA we got some pretty good smallies (which is my favorite fish to catch) My problem with river fishing is basically what lures to use...i see alot of people throw weightless grubs and let the flow with the current....detecting a bite that way is also giving me some trouble. If RW can chime in and give me some tips that will be much appreciated
  12. Problem is, i don't have a backyard I usually go down to the river since it's 5 minutes walking distance from my house and practice there. I have no trouble with heavier lures except the occasional backlash. I'm really not sure how to set it up for lighter lures...should i turn off the anti-backlash or loosen the spool adjustment?
  13. The lakes and river in my area are pretty stocked with walleye....I know NOTHING about fishing for walleye. Can someone give me some pointers on the type of setup i need... Types of lures and techniques that work best... Best time/season to fish for them and just basically any info to help a beginner out. Thanks
