Gander Mountain Fishing Rods

Featured Replies

What do you guys think about the Gander Mountain line of Rods? Are they worth the money or is it cheap trash??

I have to admit that I like the fact that if a rod broke that I could just walk into the store and get it replaced under warranty the same day.

Any thoughts?

IMO they are a great deal. i have one and i dont see muc differance between it and my st croix

Which model did you end up getting?

Thanks for the replies guys!

I have 3 of the Gander Mtn. Tournament GSX 54 rods. 1 medium fast and 2 medium heavy fast  trigger rods. I also have St.Croix Avid and Premier rods and BPS extreme and ProQualifier rods. For the money, my opinion is, the Gander rods are as sensitive and lightweight as anything else I have and cost less. The no questions asked 100% replacment for a broken rod is pretty hard to beat.

I originally posted this in my thread about a crankbait rod for around $50, but haven't gotten any answers, so I'll try here. Has anyone used the Gander Advantage crankbait rod? Also, does anyone know what this rod is made of? the rod says e glass but the tags say IM6. So is it a glass rod with the same tags as the non cranking advantage rods, or is it a glass/graphite composite?

I have that rod in MH 7' and like it..

Just a note on the Gander rods and reels. I was at Gander the other day and they told me that they have now switched the warranty on the 2009 product line to 2 years instead of lifetime.

Not sure if that's true as the guy working that I talked to didn't seem all there but I will find out.

Just some food for thought.

I worked there for 5 years and they were always technically 2 year but my manager always told to just take them back and not worry about it.

All of my Musky rods are Gander Mountain rods....

Thinking about getting another Gander rod for swimbait fishing

Does anyone know who actually makes the rods for Gander?

They are made by a company called Aboss. Same company makes a lot of the private label rods for various stores. They used to be made by Quarrow up until a few years ago.

There really are some nice rods in the Gander Mountain line! Those Titananium series rods are very light and feel very nice. I havent fished on but from what I can tell, seem like a sweet stick for the money

i have 2-3 baitcasting rod from Gander and i love em. for the price they are hard to beat. i have casted expensive rods and personally i dont see that big of a difference. i would not hesitate on buying a gander rod. esp on sale :)

I heard that American Rodsmiths makes the titanium series, and that they have different builders for the other ones. Not sure if thats true but I heard it from someone who works there.

A buddy of mine swears by GM rods.  He's a walleye fisherman so I'm not sure if he can be trusted :), but he uses them exclusively.
