  1. Thank you to everyone. I really appreciate everyone's input. I ended up with the Shimano Curado 201E7, and I love it. It took me a full day of casting to get used to it. But no more backlashes ;D. It is sooo smooth, I will never buy another spinning reel again. I think that the next reel is the Abu REVO! -Snogle
  2. no, public... No, I just checked to make sure. Only residents of Ashburn Village and their guests are allowed to fish there and the resident has to be there with you and has to have a fishing license and recreation ID card from Ashburn Village. oh..well ive been going there for 3 years no problems soo.... I have also been going there for a while, never had any problems there. Be courteous and I don't think that you will any problems either. However in regards to the Reservoir, if you haven't you should check out the access off of "Alford Rd." Bit of a long walk to get to the water but it's a kick *** spot. Turn left as you get to the water, it's about a 1/2 mile walk but there are two feeder creeks that enter in a little cove and the fishing is AWESOME there. Spinners, crankbaits, and jigs. -Snogle
  3. Not a chance that you're the only one. I can't tell you how many times I walk into the local fishing store to buy one thing and end up spending $75+. New line, new rubber worms, crank-baits (rapala x-raps), spinners (mepps agila/panther martin), basically anything I can convince myself that I "need."
  4. Hey Buddy, I live in Ashburn as well and I would be honored to help you out. I have been fishing the Reservoir for a while and let me tell you there is nothing easy about that place. I would prefer to not fish there, problem is it tends to stay a clear when we get a bit of rain. Ever tried the Pavilion Pond off the Boulevard? How bout the pond of Ashburn Rd? Perhaps you've been to Willow Park. I might have a couple places that you haven't been to, my buddy and I are always have an eye out for new places. I ALWAYS have luck at the pond in front of the Library in Ashburn, right off Hay road and adjacent to Stone Bridge High School. I have luck with Rapala X-Rap's here, (olive colored and white) as well as gold colored spinners (Mepps Agila 1/4oz.). Give them a try if you haven't and if you have PM me and we can set up a meet this week, it's supposed to be gorgeous, and I will be fishing everyday all week.
  5. Thanks for the feedback guys, it is much appreciated. Fish well...
  6. Hey Gang, I am new to the bait caster world, and need some advice. I am a "Shimano Guy," if you will. I have a couple of Shimano spinning reels (favorite being my Stradic 4000FG). But for some time now I have debating a bait caster. I have spoken to quite a few different people and decided that it would be a good investment. Now comes the grueling task of picking the proper reel for me. I am almost sold on the Shimano Curado 201E7, but the Abu Garcia REVO has caught my eye as well. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for the young wipper-snapper? I am open to other ideas, suggestions or feedback that you may feel necessary to aid me in my cause. I am willing to spend $200, so anything under that, perhaps a little over if you are that much more confident in a particular reel. Thanks, -Snogle
