  1. PowerPro....way better than anything Spiderwire makes in my opinion.
  2. I use DuoLock snaps on my "plug" rods, and yes I do remove the split-rings, EXCEPT on Pop-Rs, simply because I can't get the snap through the eye down deep inside the cupped face of the Pop-R. I used to tie a loop knot, but once in a catching frenzie, I didn't retie my loop knot and the loop broke on the cast, chunking a trap about 100yards. It had simply fatigued the mono in the loop.
  3. Have you thought about a kayak?
  4. Put one on my Merc 25 and ran it really hard both duck hunting and fishing Toledo Bend, smaller creeks and rivers, and even saltwater marsh and it was the best money I ever spent on that boat. In fact, that motor and prop are on another hull, as I wore out the 15' .100 Welbuilt (bottom looked like you had attacked it with a sledge hammer), and it is still going strong after nearly 15 years. However, if you do get a stainless prop, buy the Merc prop; I bought the first one from Cabelas and it had too much cup in the blades and the motor was bogging down...sent it back and paid a little extra for the Merc prop.
  5. I have used GB Trilene for the past 15-20 years and never found it lacking. Some monos are better, but at $8 for a 1/4 lb spool, I just respool frequently. Always have 10, 12, and 15lb in the shop, usually in clear, although I won't go to another store to find clear, I just buy some green. I can honestly say that I have NEVER broken a fish off spinnerbait fishing with 15lb, and IMO, I see no need to go to 20lb. For flipping, pitching, and worms I use braid, not mono. Great line, great price...what more could you ask for?
  6. Been wearing "those uncomfortable things" since 1986, lost count of all of the different styles or names, but I love them.
