  3. Got a real nice 1 in harrisonburg today 4.85 pounds it was on the fourth cast with a norman lure. With the slick finish. How do you insert pictures?
  4. What a great idea really awesome thing to do for the boatless.........I'm there!
  5. Spent 7 hours on the lake on Thursday. Really, really worked it from the main ramp to the upper shallow end. Threw my arm off and got one 3lb fish...rough day I know....here's why I'm writing though. My friend I fished many colors, sizes ect. on the bottom, he had nothing I had the one. He put on an old, beat up bass color super fluke and literally Wham!! He hooked up twice in 20 minutes,on the drop, 2 fish that were 14 to 16 inches, it got nailed another 3 to 5 times and was finally torn in half. It was the only fluke style, jerk bait we had. So here is my question, in a lake like Briery, where we know they are there, if the bite is not happening on the bottom, does it stand to reason that they are definitely suspended? Also, do the fish suspend at varied depths for varied reasons i.e bright sun, heat, high/low front? Can someone in a basic boat with no electronics find the thermocline? For all of its incredible potential it seems that the standard school of thought is that Briery is actually a fairly tough lake, most of the time (local legends excluded) anyone here have any stories or suggestions regarding fishing a suspended pattern? How and what?
  6. Got out there on Sunday for 3 hours. 5 to 8 pm, 10 bass, all over 16 inches, largest 4 ish. All on a ragetail watermelon craw using a 1/16 oz weighted hook.
  7. Well thanks for the help on that. I was going to check the tongue on the next one I caught. I'm not sure what's going on there, but the bass action, while Mostly small has been above average. Been killin' em on the ragetail craw.
  8. I guess the reason was the size, dominating size seems to be 12-15 inches 1 to 1.5 lbs, markings seem evident of spotted, spots on the belly particularly. Smaller mouths and generally just completely lacking largemouth colorations. Can shallow, pea colored lakes that get a LOT of sun alter their markings over time? I had a guy tell me that bass can get sun poisoning in shallower lakes......never heard that one. I got a reasonably decent fish there last week and he had no banding no discernible markings and a much smaller mouth. While obviously a bass, I'm just not convinced it was a largemouth.
  9. Agreed, it's really horrible, but 3 minutes from my place. I was curious about the color of the bass in there and the species..I don't think they're largemouth, they look more like spotted..............or maybe they're severely stunted.
  10. Yep, to all of that. I haven't tried the screw ins, but i did get that suggestion in my post on the ragetails. i've been using the 1/8 oz and pulling them top water on and around pads and weeds. RE: the other question, I hook the just like you would hook a weedless worm...........today I ran the hook BEFORE tying on.I put the hook in EYE first up through the head rather than having to push the leaded part of the hook through. It helped the bait keep way better contact with the hook.
  11. could definitely see it happening in Miami
  12. Any here fish this lake?
  13. My go to colors are red Shad and recently watermelon.
  14. I'm on my 6th pack using 1/8 oz. weighted hooks. The difference in the action in between weightless hooks and Tx. rig is astonishing...................it's the only bait I've used for 3 weeks.
  15. Thanks for the info..........I've never been a very versatile fisherman and having the chance to fish and then really key on to something with these new baits and techniques is really great. reminds of why I fell in love with bass fishing in the 1st place! Thanks again! ;D
