  1. I wanna see how you are catching those as well!! Im free whenever you are! Jeff
  2. I am currently installing a minn kota 55 foot control on my jon and to where the middle seat was, i couldnt reach! JMO
  3. tinboats.net also keep in mind that the foot controls on a tm arent long enough usually to reach to center bench in jon boat! Jeff
  4. Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark that's why its called fishing and not catching ~ UNKNOWN
  5. sounds like a plan! If anything comes up I'll give you a call! Jeff
  6. Ive been fishing with both Kent(roadwarrior) and Patrick (bassin901) and they are both GREAT guys with great spots! Would love to meet some more people from the Memphis area as well as continue fishing with my Memphis Buddies! Jeff PS> I think I'm gonna want to fish sunday morning..any takers? kent? patrick? call me!
  7. To answer a couple questions.... Tow vehicle is a 2008 Tundra, so obviously no problem towing whatever I want! Mostly smaller lakes, but want to venture to some bigger lakes, thus the reason for a bigger boat!(only have a jon for now) wanted to get out for 15 or less.....therefore the options are limited to used pretty much for glass, and I'm not sure I want a used boat! I hate having to babysit the trolling motor, and the tins riding much higher out of the water is a concern, but at the same time, can get shallower in the tin.....hmmm Not much to any bottom contact as I will fish 95% lakes not rivers! Maybe a trip to the Tennessee when I get hooked on smallies by a good friend! Not super concerned about the 2nd console, as the boat will be smaller and quite frankly I dont need to go 70 in a bass boat..... 2 vs 4 is my main toss up right now other than glass vs tin... can get a bigger 2 for less money than a smaller 4 but I like the eco friendliness of the 4, quieter/smoother running 4, but the price and weight of a 2????? HELP PLease more comments on the 2 vs 4 and glass vs tin... Jeff
  8. fiberglass vs aluminum.... Pros and cons Dual consoles Pros vs cons 2 stroke vs 4 stroke pros vs cons I have opinions on all, but would like to hear others input as well. Also for the 16-18 foot boat range what size trolling motor and what size outboard would you think as a minumun? Jeff
  9. well definitely no fish/ski combo boat.....learned my lesson with that with my dads fish/ski hydrasport.... Looking new at: stratos 176xt but for 15 can only get yamaha 50ltr nitro x-5 (hopefully get a last years model clearance) tracker 190tx or tournament v18 g3 eagle 180 lowe stinger modv 170 and used: would love to find a great deal on a used Ranger!!!
  10. If you were planning on buying a new boat within the coming year, and you were in this predicament? What would you do? Fish for primarily Bass, but sometimes bream/crappie mostly smaller waters(<200 acres), but would love to venture out to some bigger lakes( 1000+) want enough room for 2 people to fish comfortably and have a console. want to be able to let the other half have enough room to layout once she gets tired of fishing, and also room to bring the dog (75 lbs) plenty of storage, and live-well, even though I rarely keep fish. leaning towards fiberglass over aluminum but would consider both! **hold resale value and or trade in value as I'm likely to get hooked and want that d**n Ranger before too long** situation 1. You had $10,000 to spend and want it to go straight to the lake situation 2. You had a couple thousand bucks and wouldn't mind financing a new boat up to around $18000 Let me know what you would do and what you would consider. Jeff
  11. aww.....only 30? Poor guys! Wish ya'll could have had a better weekend!
  12. Congrats to the both of ya! Is that the other deep pond in Collierville? Looks like some nice fish! I dont have another shoot for a month or so, so Sunday mornings are back open for me! Jeff
  13. Ron, I believe Kent told me that you were the one who caught it last year when it weighted 6'3....so yes! Jeff
  14. hook set is a little far out to come with ya, but I'm not!!! ;D
  15. Big Bill I'm not sure where you are from, but if live bait(shiners) are legal, and you see these "big fish" chasing bait fish, why wouldn't you try fishing with what they are chasing! Of course not bluegill but shiners..... Jeff PS> post pictures when you catch one
  16. so it is the same spot then huh? what did you catch yours on? and about what time of the afternoon? Jeff

  19. DAng am I upset I couldn't take you up on the offer this am. Looks like you figured something out you hadn't before. Pm or call me the next time you are gonna go out and I'll try to make it again! Looking forward to the story! Jeff
  20. Hey Kent, How'd this morning go?
  21. OK so I read the story of RoadWarrior (Kent) and how he has a secret fishing hole only 8 miles from my house! I keep on reading to find that some jack*** took a 10+ fish out of there and that Kent normally catches good fish out of it! So I'm thinking....How come I dont know about this spot? Ive lived in the area for over 12 years? Really? Well, long story short......REALLY!!!! Talked to Kent on the phone a couple days before we scheduled to meet and he told me how he's catching good fish and what to bring... I brought everything he said and left the standard(bass pro tournament series squirmin worm 8'' electric blue/firetail) tied on. When we got there it was barely light...ok it was still dark (5:20ish) and the bugs were out! Kent took me out to the spot and we started fishing down the bank. Nothing for the fist couple spots then we come to this one spot and he tells me there is a hump that extends out about 30 yards and you wanna fish up the back side, the top and then back down the other! I started fan casting from deep to shallow and on about the 6th cast or so I fish up the back side and get to the top....(this might sound familiar to some of you if you have read roadwarriors stories before) but as I get to the top, I stop my worm, twitch it a little and my line starts screaming to the middle of the pond! Bam I set the hook and Kent immediately knows its a big one! Get her to the bank, take the hook out, couple of pictures later and she's swimming off! Kent said he has caught her before and she weighted about 6.3 but this time we didnt bring a scale! What do ya'll think? Oh yea and before I get to the pictures, I have to say a big thanks to Kent for showing me his spot and putting me on the fish! He really knows his stuff! We will have to do it again some time soon buddy! Jeff
  22. will do! Its been raining a bit here so I havent worked on the boat in a week or so, and the couple days it wasnt raqingin I was fishing...lol Hopefully to get back to work on it soon and post the finalized pics! Jeff
  23. Thursday I got skunked..... my fishing buddy caught one So yesterday I called up bassin901 and we went back to poplar tree lake.. Met up at about 4:45 and headed out... Started fishing the side of the lake I didnt hit on thursday and within the first 5 min hooked up a little dink on a sk redeye shad Kept on fishing and we both switch from crank baits to plastics.. Patrick hooked up with one on a tube, then i caught a nice size bluegill hybrid? on a baby brush hog I caught fish on baby brush hob, tube, sk redeye shad, and a fire-tiger spinner-bait. We fished until the mosquitoes ate us up and we were loading in at dark Bassin901 caught 7 and I caught 6...all in all it was a great day and I had lots of fun! Were definitely gonna fish together again! That is assuming he can stand fishing with me again! LOL
  24. ok well I didn't want to post about it, lol but here it goes went out to a local lake(Poplar Tree Lake) about 125 acres electric only got out there about 5:15pm and fished until we couldnt see the bank anymore, about 8:30 and I got skunked... dont know if it was just too hot during the day (97 with heat index of 108) or what but I didn't catch a thing good news is I checked and not one drop of water leaked! I made a makeshift troll motor mount that has to be changed, and i needed a longer extended handle for it but other than that I am VERY pleased with the boat, now if I can just get my act in order....lol
  25. I'd love to do it! bassin 901 check pm
