  1. to be honest, i only use one type of spinnerbait, in a few sizes, and the thing has never let me down! its a booyah top secret spinnerbait that you can only buy at dicks because dicks and booyah have a special thing going on with it, can't buy it anywhere else, but check it out, the thing works great, and it has 2 willow blades on it, you can also change one of the blades out and put a colorado blade on there to depending on your location, species of fish, etc. I use different weights and techniques depending on the water clarity, time of day, temperature, and season, good luck
  2. Scorcher214, i did actually read that thread earlier and it was very helpful, i did purchase a few of those things, like the Senkos and actually some baby brush hogs, the hogs being in dark blue and black. Smalljaw67, u are totally correct with getting dizzy about all the comments, i have been doing so much research and reading on this topic, and do have a good idea of what to do, just haven't applied it yet to the water and haven't found what works just yet which might be why I'm still a little confused, i know plastics are good at any time and at any time, just didn't know if there were baits recommended for the pre-spawning of bass or spring time fishing opposed to summer fishing as far as plastics go. I currently have the Senkos t-rigged weightless, t-rigged with weight, and on a jig head, and the same goes for the baby brush hog. Also going to try the carolina rig, which i guess is good for fishing heavy cover so the bait can be just above the heavy grass or cover, all comments and advice are more than welcome, this forum is great and the people on here are very knowledgable and willing to help others which is the name of the game, thanks again
  3. Whats up guys, got a couple questions about plastics, haven't really used them a lot, mostly spinnerbaits and cranks, but i always hear how well people do on plastics, and want to get into them. So my questions are, what type and color's should i fish for certain conditions/time of the year, and what type of plastics(worms, creatures, etc), all comments are encouraged because I've been reading but still can't find specifics, an as it gets closer to the season, i want to hit it in full swing and have a great summer of bass fishing, thanks a lot guys really appreciate it
  4. you should stop by the nock if you get a chance, some good fishing there if you know the right locations to fish.
  5. thanks for the replies fellas, I'm probably going to go with the 15# P-Line, seems the best for an overall use application because i only have 2 bait casting rods, and i wanna do most of the fishing on my new one that i just purchased, and just delicate my other rod for one or 2 things, anyone have any ideas on how i could set this up??
  6. Megastrike. as far as ponds go i don't really fish them because i have a boat, galena isn't really that great however two summers ago pulled out a 5lb largemouth, but wouldn't recommend it there, as far as the Nock goes, if your fishing from shore, check out the bridge, i believe its called the 663 bridge but not 100 percent sure, it has a cove in it, and i used to fish there when i didn't have a boat, i still do fish there on my boat and do well, theres a lot of lillypads there and good cover for bass, if you come into the entrance of the nockamixon park (by making a right hand turn) coming the way from doylestown or plum stead, u will only drive for a min or two, and its either the first or second bridge, can't remember, but right after ur go over the bridge pull over to the right, and u can park there, and u will see walkways down to the water, u can also fish another little cove that is connected to the lake through a small small waterfall that runs into the lake (u will see what I'm talking about when u get there). As far as baits go, i have caught 90 % of my fish at the Nock with a Booyah Top Secret spinnerbait, you can only buy these types at dicks, but also use t-rigs and carolian's and have done well with them as well when bass weren't as active, let me know if you have any other questions, or any spots of your own, enjoy
  7. i live in PA, doylestown to be exact, ive been to lake galena a lot 2 summers ago and last summer nockamixon all summer is where i fished, the lake is decently big, but you need to know how to fish it or it will kick ur *** everytime! haha it did to me until i figured it out, unfortunately I'm not home during the year, only from may until the 5th of september because of school, but let me know if you need some help with nock if you go, or if anyone has any other spots in the bucks county area don't be shy to say something, we can all help each other out here.....good luck
  8. x2 on not having success with crank baits, the occasional strike i will get once or twice a summer but i rarely use them anymore because i haven't had luck with them, spinnerbaits however on the other hand have worked quiet well
  9. wow thanks guys all of your reply's so far are awesome and very helpful, thank you very much, if anyone else has any other opinions feel free to comment, thanks again
  10. thanks a lot aavery2, however, i am not that new to bait casting, i used one all last summer, and used regular line to a green power braided line, however, i never put to much thought into line selection which was probably a bad idea, after reading through the forums and understanding how important line selection is, i want to select the correct line, i fished a lot last summer, basically everyday, and have become efficient with the technique( after backlashes and bird nests)which everyone has been through, would you recommend a different line if i know how to use my bait caster or still the same setup? thanks again for your help
  11. Whats up guys, I know this forum probably gets this a lot, but there are so many lines and different types that it just confuses the hell out of me, i recently ordered a Abu Garcia Orra SX bait caster reel/rod combo, the reel gear ration is 6:4:1 and the rod line lb test recommended is 8-15lb, its a 6.6 Medium action rod. I will be doing mostly bass fishing witht his rod, as well as the occasional pike fishing, but mostly bass. I like to fish a lot of spinnerbaits, but want to dig into the whole carolina and texas rig scene. So my question is what would be the best overall line for a general setup that i have, in other words the best overall line that can be applied to numerous applications, as well as cast efficiently with a bait caster, all reply's are more than appreciated, thanks for the help guys
  12. yeah thats true, I'm probably going to end up ordering it anyways cuz they don't really have anything on amazon haha, but hey thanks for all your help guys, really appreciate it
  13. you make a very good point, the rod might be just an ok rod, but the reel seems to be getting some good reviews, thanks for your help, anyone else have or have used this rod and reel combo before?
  14. Im thinking about getting this combo, I'm still in college and don't have all the money in the world so i could buy what i really want, but i recently received a credit to amazon for 110 bucks from trading in books to them, i know I've heard bad stuff about there shipping services for fishing stuff, but i don't have a choice, i was wondering has anyone ever used this combo?? i have heard mixed reviews about the setup and just want some honest feedback/advice, thanks guys
