  5. http://www.kmbc.com/r/19730665/detail.html Wow!!!!
  6. OK, let me add some details... If you are on a small inland lake. What I'm trying to get to, Is the boat itself a threat to be struck by lightning?
  7. So your fishing in your fiberglass bass boat and a storm roles in. Your 45min away from the dock. How dangerous is this? What's your best move?
  8. No, if the line slips through the knot, it will pull any kinks out easily. Braided line has low memory. Yes braided line has low memory, don't think memory was the right word i was looking for but i will be using the double palomar knot from now on...thanks
  9. It sounds like line slippage to me. Usually you'll at least get a couple headshakes from a pike before they saw you off, and the line will be frayed. Give the Double Palomar a shot next time. Just make two overhand knots with the loop instead of one. Great knot, But here's what I'm thinking. If you fold braid it holds that shape, so if you tie a knot and it slips your line will have some sign of that memory. This line was straight no evidence of creasing. Just a thought
  10. Im thinking it was a pike. The lake has a very high number of northerns in it. Also i set hook on many fish in a given week and this only happens once in a blue moon. The input from you guys has been great!
  11. Seemed to break right at the lure. It was new braid freshly tied
  12. I'm Just trying to gauge how much of a problem I have. ;D
  13. Is there any programs where you can donate baits you may not use or bought and don't like to underprivileged kids? If not I wpould like to start a program. How many of you would like to donate?
  14. I was wondering how much the guys who fish almost everyday spend on soft plastcs, cranks, etc.... In a given week or month?
  15. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I have tears in my eyes...I've gotta use that on "ohp, there's one"
  16. Themacells are the way to go but you do have to stay kind of put for them to be affective and low wind
  17. I will hold the tip down towards the water and just give continuous little jerks only moving the rod tip 1-2 inches. You will feel it get hung on weeds and then I just give a little harder suddle pull a lot of the time that's when the fish will hit. When you feel the fish and you will know when you do, just pull through it to set the hook. Don't give up on the cast to early they will follow it all the way to the boat. Of course this all depends on the variables. Like if you pick one up off a log find the next log hit it 4 5 6 times work it past a little then reel in your line and stick it right back on the log. I use a Texas for this. Hope this helps
  18. Originally from Howell but now i live in Linden
  19. These are great guys...Keep them coming! Just talked to my buddy he said I say (hooked up) sometimes or (thats a good one) but he did say it's rare i say anything. He says (there we go)
  20. Thats funny right there... Thanks for the laugh
  21. Glad I finally pulled the trigger on joining the forum. I'm 26 from MI. Fished all the time when I was pre and early teen but then got side tracked for awhile. Been back on the water seriously for a little over a year now. I've gone through 4 boats in that time. From a 14' Jon boat to a new stratos176xt and everything in between. I fish everyday about 500hrs a year. Some say I have a problem. Glad to be part of the bassin family
  22. Some of my buddies have pretty good catch phrases when they set the hook. Some are funny some are just straight up annoying. I don't think they actually realize there saying it. I personally don't say a thing when I hook up. I thought it would be fun to hear some of your catch phrases and if you do or don't have one. ;D
  23. Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught. You just gotta get back at it and stay positive
