  1. I'm about 280 and I have a Malibu Xfactor. I love it and don't think I would trade it for any other kayak out there. Just so stable.
  2. Yeah. the ramp that's at the seafood restaurant. I have been to hicks landing, but my boat is pretty slow so it's a bit of a ride to my spot from there. I also read about the bass stocking and if it ends up like the Chicahominy that will be awesome.
  3. It's been a few years since i've been there, but from what I remember, it was very much like little falls. the dock is bigger but the ramp is still steep and the dock is very tall and not easy if you need to step off the dock into your boat. I've never had much luck in either of those sections of the Rapp. I prefer to put in out on 301. It's a little bit of a drive but the fishing is much better IMO.
  4. I love kayak fishing. I've got a lowe 17 foot aluminum bass boat and only take it out a few times a year now. The yak is just so easy to load up and head out. The only downside for me personally, is that I fish mainly Aquia Creek on the Potomac and in the summertime when the grass is thick, it can be a little difficult to see the holes in the cover to drop your bait in. Other than that i love it. Also, if you only have a few hundred bucks to spend, Craigslist is your best bet.
  5. I'll second watching the weather. You don't want to be out there in a jon boat when that water gets choppy.
  6. I have a Malibu X factor. The main reason I got that one is the weight capacity( i'm around 280 pounds) and stability. It is incredibly stable and you can stand up in it in calm water. Only downside is the speed, but It's a trade off for the stability. If you are a normal size person, your options are really endless. There are some kayak threads over in the boat section of the forum you might want to check out.
  7. No problem. One bad thing about fishing around here is dealing with the people. There are always a lot of people anywhere public on the weekend. The main reason i got my fishing kayak to was to get away from people.
  8. This. Don't waste your time on the rapp if your looking for bass. Aquia creek is much more productive. if youll be bank fishing, you can go to Aquia Landing park and fish off the rocks or on the beach. Guys were catching 3-4 pounders of the bank there about 2 weeks ago.
  9. I see people pulled over on the side of RT. 2 fishing there all the time in the summer. i doubt anyone would give you a hard time. If anything someone might just ask you to leave. No big deal.
  10. I was thinking the same thing Red Earth.
  11. That's a really tough section of the river to fish. I've never had much luck Bass fishing up that way. If I go out on the Rapp, I go to hick's landing in Port Royal. It's only about 35 minutes from Fredericksburg and much more productive. Just caught a 5 pounder there 2 weeks ago.
  12. Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. That seat in the Native Ultimate does look real comfy.
  13. Hi everyone. Wanted to see if anyone has any experience with Malibu kayaks. I'm just getting interested in kayak fishing but i'm a big guy( 6'3" 320) so I've been looking at the X-factor. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated and if there are other kayaks out there for a man my size I'd love to hear some suggestions. Thanks
