  1. I am redoing my 11.5' jon boat, and am wondering if you guys things a carpeted floor is worth the effort. I am leaning towards yes, cuase my boat has ribs that across it. I don't trailer it, it goes in the back of my turck, and is only pushed with a 50LB trolling, so weight is always an issue. Also, the ribs trap a lot of water, I should be OK drilling some small holes in them to let it pass right? Thanks again for the tips.
  2. I got a Minn Kota endura 50LB at wally world on clearance for 154, it is a transome mount with a tiller, but it will be my primary power so I don't mind. Back to the point at hand, check the stores for end of season deals.
  3. I just plan on adding a floor and some comfy seats on pedastals. I think the decks would raise your center of gravity to high, and with the excitment of a big fish on the line, you may lean to far and join the big guy for a swim.
  4. Good deal, ya this boat has no Hull ID or S/N anywhere on it. As far as the military, SC requires you to register watercraft. And pay taxes on them, it is kinda BS if you ask me. Thanks again for the info, nothing ruins a day of fishing like the Game Warding taking your boat, so I need to keep it legal.
  5. I am in the military stationed in S.C., I grew up in VA. I had this boat for a few years now, but in VA there is no title for boats or anything like that. S.C. wants a title, so I am filing for a new titel/reg. has anyone ever done this and am I looking at a long process, with them checking to see if this boat has been stolling or what ever? I know it has not, but I don't want to wait months to put it in the water. It is just a little 11 foot john boat.
  6. Ya, auto zone should be able to tell you if it is your battery. But my money is on the snag.
  7. Sumter S.C. about 35 min. from no where
  8. I was just giving a little john boat, for the swamp I go too it is pretty much the only thing I can fish with. and they last forever, this one has a county sticker on it from 1964, lord knows how old it is. I am hoping when I register it next week they can tell me from the S/N someone scratched in the hull.
  9. Thanks for all the replies, I don't have a battery yet so I am going to go for the biggest one I can get, and maybe a cheap second one just in case. Now all I have to do is get it registerd, it has been in the back of this guys house for 7 years. No title or nothing, hopefully S.C. won't give me to hard of a time, I have a notarized bill of sale.
  10. I was giving a Jon boat about 9 foot long. I have no outboard for it, but I do have a 50LB Min Kota for it, would this be enough to push me around small ponds and swamsp? I am not looking to break any speed records, just enjoy a nice day in the swamp.
