Question about a new rod
Thanks for all the responses. I found what I was looking for at BPS. A Team All Star rod, with the "A" grip. Pretty nice rod. I also got a Duckett 70MHC bowing to the pressure of learning new things...

3:16 Lure Company
What's up with this company? I'm interested in a couple of their lures but it seems that all their inventory is out of stock on their web site. Are they that good that they're all sold out, or do they suck so they don't bother? Never seen a lure I'd have to keep in my safe deposit box, but the concept is interesting. ;D

What reel?
Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate it. Great tips on e-Bay. I purchased both the Curado and the Pflueger on e-Bay for around $140 each. Brand new. Great savings. I'm gonna get the Duckett rod and another pistol grip rod from BPS. Still will need some lures... I have some old lures; jitterbug, hula popper, etc... but they are so old they're made of wood. LOL! Any and all advice for lures is welcome. Grump

What reel?
Thanks for both replies... I was thinking not more than $200 for a reel should get me a decent one. Two that struck my eye were the Curado and the Pfleuger Patriarch, both of which were mentioned above. It's been a while since I've been fishing, but I'm looking for bass mostly. I'm going to have to say that I'm mostly familiar with some of the old fashioned baits... jitterbug, hula-popper, crazy-crawler, and spook... some rapalas. Also very open to the latest stuff out there. Like to learn the newest and best baits, as well.

What reel?
I'm looking for a bait casting reel to pair up with the Duckett MM Finger 70MH. I'm not interested in a $400 reel because I'm not a fishing pro. Probably just be fishing for bass and panfish. Any advice/suggestions would be welcome. TIA

Question about a new rod
It's been many years since I've been fishing. After much time spent in the corporate grind, I'm now semi-retired and find time to take up this sport once again. In searching for new fishing equipment, I find myself stymied when it comes to rods. When I last had a fishing rod, it had a fairly short "pistol grip" handle. As I look at new rods, it seems that all the rods I see have long handles, some as much as a food or more from the "trigger" to the butt end of the rod. 2 Questions: 1. What is the advantage of the long handle on these new rods? 2. Where can I find a good quality rod with the shorter handle that I'm used to? This old dog probably don't need any new tricks. :-[
