Recommendation: $300-$400 Baitcasting Combo
I feel the same way about Dobyns. Not to mention the customer service I have encountered has been awesome. Ill go ahead and say it. I think the Avid is a good rod but its a bit over hyped on this forum. It cost me some money to realize that but I appreciate my Dobyns more now.

Just dont short yourself on the rod....Spend as much money there as you can....It will save you in the long run.

Yep get a Dobyns Exteme DX743 for around $265 at 20% off plus free shipping. Buy Hookingems reel for 110 now. $375 will get you the BLING BLING setup for the price you would pay for the rod at regular price with tax. The Curado on a Extreme is beautiful and about as sensitive as you can get unless you want to pay $450 for an NRX. But those never go on sale.....

Not a chance. We sleep together when I kick the old lady on the couch. I would leave her though if you trade me a Dobyns DX743C SH Extreme with your Curado for that setup^^^ Ill even throw in a $50 Academy gift card and my old lady.

Johnnytoxin, take note of the rod he is wanting. Im just sayin. I owned two Avids before my Dobyns Champion and to me there is no comparison. The sensitivity is quite a bit better on the Champion then the Avid. The Avid was a little tip heavy while the Champion is so balanced it almost floats in your hand and its just overall a more joy to fish with. Here is the setup that I recommended earlier.

Seaguar Kanzen Braid
I was just about to order some until I saw the specs. I need new braid for my Curado 50E. I like the 40lb PP thickness on that reel(.33 mm). The 40lb Kanzen is .285 mm which is even thinner then 832s 30lb at .29 mm. I think that may be a little too thin for my liking. The Kanzen 50lb(.37 mm) is thicker then the 832 50lb(.34 mm) and the PP 50lb(.36). That is probaly too thick to put on a 50E. I do however have a 50 dollar gift card to Academy. They have the 200E7's for $139.99. That 50lb Kanzen would fit nicely on one of those.

Seaguar Kanzen Braid
Has anyone tried this new line out yet? Ive been using Power Pro and Suffix 832 but am thinking about ordering some of this to try out.

Order Of Importance
No matter how good of a presentation you have it wont matter if your fishing in a location without fish.
-
Order Of Importance
If your not in the right location none of the other options matter.

New Powerpro Super Slick....finally
They dont care too much about the color of the line at Midnight anyways.

New Powerpro Super Slick....finally
They should of kept the moss green color. I don't care for the brown and aqua green. Another disappointment from the Shimano family.

New Dobyns Rod Series
I agree. I was looking forward to seeing this new series more then any other new product this year. I kept trying to guess what the new color scheme would be and how they would out do the "bling" on the extreme. When I finally saw it I was disappointed. It just didn't add up to what I was told. A camo rod that would be priced over the extreme would probably not sell to well.

New Dobyns Rod Series
I was told by a Dobyns pro staffer that they would be showcasing a new series rod at ICAST. He said he had been fishing a proto and it was lighter and more sensitive then the extreme. He also said it was very pricey and should hit the market around November. This is the only new series they have showcased at ICAST as far as I know.

Best Senko/neko Rig Rod?
The 50E would be the ideal choice over the E7. I just picked the E7 because it was one of the three reels he mentioned. Plus the a Curado looks killer on a Champion Extreme.
-
Best Senko/neko Rig Rod?
I nicknamed my Dads DX704C and E7 combo "The Pimp Stick".

Best Senko/neko Rig Rod?
Dobyns Champion Extreme DX743 on the E7 = Bling! Bling!

New Shimanos At Tackle Warehouse
That $97 50E sale that just passed is seeming like an even better deal now. I wish I had bought more at that price. The 50E is an awesome reel. All I see is regression in this new line up.

Biggest Fish You've Hooked?
Thanks. I love that picture man. I have a poster size in my garage and in my office. Kona is a beautiful place to fish and the water is protected by mountains. The water gets much calmer then what shows in that picture. It will become glass at times and is a sight to see. If you ever make it out there go on the Sea Genie. The captain of that boat wins the "Top Tag & Release Captain for Blue Marlin in the Pacific" from The BIllfish Foundation almost every year.
