mines mounted up front and transducer is on trolling motor . check and make sure the transducer didnt move on the mount , it should sit parallel in the bracket . also check your settings on it and see how its set up in the settings screen . mine only does that when i get in shallow water and once i move out of that area it keeps reading right . i thought the same thing when i first seen it but i stuck my rod tip in the water it was pretty well right on what it was reading and had never read wrong on the screen ,hopefully that helped .

just signed up here usually over at *** . but i like the setting here better (*** has too many cliques). anyways i just upgraded my graphs and may have exactly what your wanting . I have a mark 5x w/extra transducer and a x96 (without transducer its mounted in hull of boat) there in great condition and everything works great and no scratches on them ,.can send pictures if need be . I would need to remove them from my boat though as my new graphs will be here mid next week, Ive had the boat since late June of 2010 .i would be willing to part with them for 250.00 (includes shipping) let me know if your interested in them . have a great day .
