  1. When fishing ponds, I have almost always had the best results with soft plastics. Worms T-Rigged weightless or wacky would be a good bet.
  2. It will with the points facing clockwise. If i flip it, the handle will not turn over to reengage the thumb bar. With the cover off if I turn the bar the reel handle attaches to, it looks like it has to go with the points facing clockwise. Turned the other way it just misses everything and will not reset the thumb bar.
  3. Baluga, When I flip it the other way it will not reengage the thumb bar. Yes I tried tightening the drag all the way and nothing different.
  4. Baluga, Is that the rachet that looks like a ninja star? If so Ihave it so the points face clockwise. The reverse way it looks like it won't reset the thumb bar?
  5. Ok so i broke down my Pro Qualifier (PQX10SD) 5:2 to1 baitcaster and cleaned and lubed as per the instructions. I reassembled the reel and the spool will not reel in the line. The handle turns, worm shaft moves, thumb bar presses down and resets when I begin reeling but it will not pick up the line. I reassembled using the diagram so I believe everything was reassembled correctly. So reel buliding/cleaning experts, what the heck did I screw up? I took it apart again and reassembled and still no dice. Please help before I throw this in the spare parts bin.
  6. Shaky Head is best with as light of tackle as you can get away with. If you were going to go with only one size, 3/16 is a safe bet. You can use "Shaky Head jigs" or regular ball heads, stand up jigheads etc. especially if you are using a floating type worm.
  7. Spook and buzzbait although I did pick up a Sammy in Ghost Minnow at the Dicks sale and can't wait to throw it in Lake Erie when the water is running clear.
  8. Thanks again to all that responded. I got back fishing more consistantly last year after only getting out a couple times a year for the last 10 years or so. I updated 2 baitcasters last year ( on a MED and a MH Veritas) and those two along with a spinning rig got me through. Just feel like a crankin rod is the way to go next. I look forward to posting more.
  9. I never considered the powell Max because so one carries them where i live. I was able to play with the BPS and KVD rods on a vacation to Orlando when I took a side trip to Bass Pro so i would just order them online if need be. The others I can get locally at Dicks or Gander Mountain. For jerkbaits i been using my Med action Veritas.
  10. I am looking to get a rod specifically for lipless, squarebill and shallow diving crankbaits. I fish from the bank 99% of the time. I am looking at a few brands like BPS Crankin stick, W&M Skeet, W&M RC, The KVD line and the ST Croix line. The lipless baits are normally 1/2oz, the lipped baits Bandit100's and SK 1.0 1.5 and 2.5. My question is would you reccommend a ML, Med, or MH rod for this. I am pretty sure the length will be 7' but I can talked into going longer or shorter if it would be better. Thank you in advance
  11. I would throw a fluke weightless and twitch it just above the weedline.
