Tow Vehicle Help
Carfax are great if the vehicle is taken to a dealership for all it's maintence. If you take it to a locally owned garage to have work done it is completely up to them if they wish to add it to the Carfax. Atleast that's what my friend who operates a garage told me.

Tempeture Drop And Rain- What To Do?
Funny you to make this thread. I'm also from KY and having been wondering about the same conditions. I've been wanting to fish Elkhorn all summer but have yet to take the drive up there. From some of the articles I have read, temperature drops and rain around this time of year can make the larger bass that have been on the bottom rise to the top to begin feeding for the fall and winter months. But I would love to read some other people's opinion on what this kind of weather does for them. Thanks for the new topic!

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
I bought one of those chairs the beginning of the summer. Most of the places I fish on the bank are very rugged and it's hard to find a even spot to spread the legs for the chair to sit up without tipping over. Found the bucket to be easier to get around and sit on. I actually was looking at something very similar to that just yesterday. It wasn't quite as fancy as that one, just a bucket with skirt and pockets. I'm going to try and search for one those later on today. Thanks everybody for the suggestions!

Thank you. Looks like I have read some false information on stringers. Going to have to get mine back from my brother.

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
I'm not really sure why you keep bringing that up? I didn't ask if I should mount a fish or not, I simply asked what people keep their fish in. If I decide to bring a fish home I believe I can. As long as it's legal size, I can take it home and eat it or mount it if I choose.

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
Read that stringers were harmful on fish when doing a search on google for something else a few months back. For all I know, stringers could be the only way to keep fish, I don't know that's why I started the topic. Just wanted to hear what people's preferred preference was. I think just a picture would do the justice for a great memory of my catch. But the reason why I would get a mount would be to hang it next to my late grandfathers mount. We were very close and I was pretty much his caretaker his last 8 months. He loved to fish and after he passed away is when I really took fishing more serious. It would just be neat to see if I ever catch a trophy to hang them next to each other.

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
You're right, I should have wrote that in the question but I forgot. I throw back everything I catch. I just took the one home the other night because it was decent sized and I never catch anything when I'm fishing with somebody with me. Wanted to show off to the family that I can catch them. I'm not wanting to bring a cooler full home and clean them, I'm just worried that If I ever catch a really nice bass and want to have it mounted, I have something good to keep it in while I'm still fishing.

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
I have Fibromyalgia so I pretty much got to carry my bucket around to sit because I get to hurting and weak after a while. I've read that stringers are hard on the fish and can kill them quickly too. I just found on BPS that they carry a collapsible basket for bass. It's 19" diameter and 30" height. I could get that and then when I get back to the car put them in a cooler.

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
I'm running out of hands though. I'm already carrying my 5 gallon bucket (my seat) tackle box, water and rod. I went to put a 16 inch smallie in the bucket full of water the other night to take home and it didn't quite fit right. Half an hour later when I got home the fish was stiff as a board. Poor fella.

What To Keep Caught Fish In?
I've been doing a search for this, but have not had much results. I know most of you have boats that have wells to keep your catches in, but I only bank fish. I have read that some people use a burlap bag and throw some ice in it or they dip it in water. That's pretty much all I've found besides carrying a cooler around. Suggestions? Thanks.

Fish Jumping Like Crazy!
Well I don't feel as bad not catching anything last night because I for sure saw 3 carp. Don't know much about carp, always thought they were slow and didn't make much splash. Kinda embarrassed haha. I saw several different pools going downstream and I would be ready for them. I would throw topwaters in their path, shallow hardbaits going in front, behind and off to the side, spinnerbaits, just a variety of different things and wouldn't get nothing out if it.

Fish Jumping Like Crazy!
I live in KY. I did see some carp come to the surface. They're not usually too aggressive though are they? I was hearing some really mean splashes.

Fish Jumping Like Crazy!
That's what I was trying the most! I was for sure when I first saw the river that they were going going to tear up my Jitterbug and Baby Torpedo. Might as well have thrown a rock out there.

Fish Jumping Like Crazy!
So I have had my eye on this spot all summer that's on a river and under a bridge that looks like a slice of heaven for big bass. Yesterday, a few hours before dust, I took my mom and dad down there with me and when we arrived to the river the bass were just going nuts. I'm fairly new to fishing, but I have seen my share of rivers, lakes and ponds and I've never seen anything like it. I could see several pools of shad going by and they were just getting destroyed. 2 1/2 hours later when dark was near, I had tried nearly every different type of lure that I had at all depths and I didn't get a single strike! Dad caught nothing, and mom got a medium sized bluegill. My mom had mentioned that she's heard that when the fish are jumping like they were, they usually don't bite. Which really didn't make sense to me because I could see them feeding right in front of me. So is she right? Or was it just my poor angling skills? (Don't worry about trying not to hurt my feelings. If I screwed up by not catching a cooler full last night, tell me. I would like to know what I need to do different next time.)

Tiny Torpedo
I have a baby Torpedo that I got last Wed. and I can't get the prop to spin at all. I've googled what I can do to make it spin and people have mentioned to loosen the screw and bend it different ways. Well I have loosen the screw and I've bent the thing every way I've read to try and I'm still not having any luck with it. Pretty aggravated that I can't get it to work properly because I've read lots of good things about the lure. Anybody else have this problem, and got any tips on what I can do to get it to work properly?

Taylorsville Lake Ky
Hey guys I'm a 22 year old guy from Central Kentucky (Washington County) and have picked up bass fishing this summer. Been learning a lot of new stuff on this website and just purchased my new spinning rod and reel just yesterday. There are some decent rivers and ponds out here but houses are being built and new land owners which have now blocked paths of all the places my mom had told me my grandpa used to fish at. I enjoy going to the lake but I don't have a boat which leaves me to very limited bank fishing spots around here. I know a few places that you can go bank fishing at Taylorsville Lake, but I haven't been fishing a whole lot there mainly because I never caught anything worth keeping regardless of the species of fish. I had read that Taylorsville Lake is mainly a catfishing lake and could be one of the top catfishing lakes in Kentucky. I was just wondering if anybody goes to Taylorsville Lake or knows someone who does know, how the bass fishing is there? Also if you could tell me some good bank fishing spots that you know of I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks

Rod And Reel Selection Help Please
Funny you to mention that. I was looking at the Lightning rod Shock at BPS right when I was alerted of a new reply. Would the Lightning rod shock be a better choice for 10 bucks more? I know just because something cost more doesn't mean it's necessarily better, but this one says SHOCK!! ha

Rod And Reel Selection Help Please
After hours of reading through this forum and looking back and forth and multiple sites for the best reviews, I'm just simply going to bug you people again and ask for a direct opinion. I've decided to go ahead and select the Pflueger President as my new spinning reel after the great things you guys have said about it. I believe it will be the best bang for my buck. Now I just need to get a good rod to go with it at about a $40-$50 price range. I would love to hear some suggestions (hopefully some that everybody can agree on). To add to my drama, I only bank fish so I need something that is be pretty durable, but has some pretty good sensitivity to go along with it. Also, what size do you think is appropriate for bank fishing? Thanks!

To be honest, I didn't have a clue what you was talking about the first 5 times I read your message. Now after researching what a "bait monkey" is, you are more than likely right haha.

Rod And Reel Selection Help Please
Thanks for the replies. So if I'm understanding you guys right, the setup I have now is OK? And if I were to get a Spinning reel, then I need to get another rod as well? I like the Ugly Stik, and wouldn't mind one bit to own another one to go with the Daiwa reel I have picked out. Or I could go with another one I have found with good reviews; a Pflueger Trion GX-7 Spinning Rod and Reel combo. I don't know alot about different brands because I always wanted the brand my Papaw fished with and that was Zebco. I have seen very limited Zebco Spinning reels so I believe that's telling me I may want to with a different brand for I'm wanting. Can anybody give me some suggestions on a reel they really like that doesn't have an outrageous price tag? I'm on a tight budget because I'm on disability and I can't afford to drop a load of cash. I'm looking to spend around maybe $50-$75 on the rod and reel both. Here are the ones I have my eye on, just by going on reviews and ratings on BassPro Daiwa Regal-XiA w/ Ugly Stik 6ft. Medium Pflueger Trion GX-7 Combo

Rod And Reel Selection Help Please
I recently bought a new rod for my Zebco Delta Spincast combo because probably half a foot or so of the tip of the rod that it was on had broken off. It was only a 5'6 inch rod to begin with and I didn't care much for how flimsy the Medium Light action was. As a novice angler, I don't really know much about the different kinds of rods. I found one that I thought would suit me, a 6 foot medium action Ugly Stik. I usually fish bluegill, but have kinda been getting into bass fishing as well, so I thought this rod would work for both. As said before, I'm a novice and quite uneducated angler. I knew there are rods for different kinds of fishing, but I didn't realize there are rods for different kinds of reels. Now deciding to get more into bass fishing, I have realized I need a new reel that has a faster ratio than my Zebco Delta. After doing some research on what kind of Spinning reel I was wanting, I then noticed that there are in fact rods for certain reels. A quick search of my Ugly Stik, and have came to realize that I had bought the wrong rod. Here's what I purchased: Ugly Stik Freshwater Rod: Model: CAL 1100 60 Length: 6'0" Action: Medium Lb. Test: 8-20 Lure Wt.: 1/4-3/4 Guides: 6+ Tip CAL meaning- Straight Handle Casting So as of now I have a Spincast reel on a Casting rod. Could somebody help explain what all is wrong with this combo haha. Obviously they don't go together, but I mean so far I haven't had any trouble out of it. My original plan was to get a Daiwa Regal-XiA Spinning Reel that I have found on sale with great reviews (Thoughts?). I was then going to put it on the Ugly Stik and make that my primary bass pole and putting my Zebco Delta Spincast combo back together and use it for panfish. Would the Daiwa Spinning reel work together with the Ugly Stik Casting Rod? Sorry for the lengthy post, and I appreciate any help given.
