Using Bluegills As Bait In Nj?
The thing is that theres a list of baitfish, and I think that you are only allowed to use them as bait, not other fish.

Mister Twister Grubs?
The problem is that my pond has heavy weeds, so jigs dont do too well unless theyre weedless, and i dont have any weedless jigs

Using Bluegills As Bait In Nj?
I've heard that using small bluegills as bait for bass or catfish or something is illegal in NJ. I've done it before, but I was never told about this. So is it illegal?

Big White Catfish?
Theres this little pond near me, and i was talking to someone who fishes there often and they said that there was a big white catfish in there, and that someone they knew caught it. How do I catch that/a catfish. I think I had one on before because I felt something really strong (bigger than any bass I've ever seen there by far) and it was pulling drag like crazy, and then the line snapped. It was on a yum 5" dinger, but I didn't get one today at all when I went. I've heard cheese works, so I tried it, but the sunnies ate it all.

Mister Twister Grubs?
I just got a pretty cheap 20 pack of Mister Twister 3" Meeny Tail grubs. I had heard they are good for all kinds of fish, including panfish (probably no bluegills since these are the 3"), bass, and more. Is it true? How do you fish them (if you use them)?

Fishing My Tiny Pond
Well, maybe I have a chance then, although this is NJ, so probably not

Fishing My Tiny Pond
How many acres, mine is probably about half an acres or less.

Fishing My Tiny Pond
Yeah, just set it up last night one of my rods, I have two, I'm putting a size six hook on the other for sunny fishing if the bass fishing is slow.

Fishing My Tiny Pond
But where was it and what kind of jig was it? This pond is very very small and has weeds and stuff on the bottom I believe. Anyway, nice! How much did it weigh? Got a picture?

Fishing My Tiny Pond
So I've heard, I caught two over there the last time I went that were about 5-6" on a 5" Dinger (cuz thats literally all I had), although I suppose that's more common.

Fishing My Tiny Pond
I can get to most of it, It's small enough so that I can cast something heavy all the way across it basically. I think it goes into a little stream farther down, but that's basically it. And what's a hudd?

Fishing My Tiny Pond
Well that's what I would always do at the dock I worked at, but i've never been able to catch a small enough sunny at the pond to use as bait. The sunnies there aren't very small. That's what I tried to do one time before.

Fishing My Tiny Pond
I have a little pond a couple of blocks from me that I've gone fishing in a couple of times, and I have have only ever caught a couple of tiny bass in it with some yum dingers and ton's of sunnies on hot dog and bread. I wanted to go fishing there again since it's the only place to fish for miles, but I don't know what the bigger bass want, if there are any. I dont have much tackle, I have some little sunfish and shad swimbaits, a little rapala floater (which wont work because of all the algae), a hula popper and a rage tail frog (which I won't use because nothing's big enough to hit them), and some plastic worms and powerbait minnows. I want to know if anyone can tell me what I should do to possibly catch a fish.

Skillful Angler Award?
That's what I thought, like you don't fill out the weighmaster stuff and the weight, which takes up about half the space

Tacklemaking On A Budget?
Thanks . So just t be clear on things for making a popper- Things I have: knife, paint, paint brush, sand paper Thing I need: Wood (balsa recommended), hook eyes (wire), treble hooks, epoxy/envirotex That sounds about right, I'm just gonna paint the eyes, so I don't need eye things. If theres anything I missed, please tell me, if not, then thanks

Same Fish Twice?
I dont think I've ever caught the same fish twice in one day, but I have definitely caught the same fish twice in one summer. I can't prove any, though, except for one, which was actually a bluegill, and this one had a big chunk of it bitten off or dented or something, probably from a turtle. I caught it about a week apart, it was pretty cool. I sight fish a lot, so sometimes i'll see a bass with a white mark on it's top lip from another hook, and sometime's i'll catch them.

Fishing Tournaments In South Jersey?
I love bass fishing, and although I'm still a little bit new to it, I would like to find out about a tournament possibly. There are a couple of things though: I don't, as of now, have a boat, and I can't get a ride if it's too far away from me. I realize that probably doesn't leave me with anything, but is there a fishing tournament that would be good for that? I live more towards the west side of south jersey, right near Philly.

I Took Apart My Old Reel And...
I could have sworn I posted pictures, but I'll post them now. I dont need help with the spring anymore I dont think, but I need help with the metal bar, I believe the spring goes with the plastic part going upwards into the little hole in the bail, and it makes it work well, except for the whole turning both ways thing. Skillful Angler Award?
I'm interested in applying for the Skillful Angler Award in NJ but i'm not quite sure how. I'm strictly catch and release, and I have a picture of a Bluegill that I caught that was 10 inches with the measuring tape right on top of it, and the minimum is nine inches. The problem is that there are no authorized measurement takers at this lake, and i'm not quite sure if that's needed for the catch and release category. In the application it asks for weight, girth, "weighmaster's" name and number and stuff, but It doesn't say what categories it does/doesn't apply to. Can I apply?

New Jersey Roll Call
Same here, live bait, but I only do that because I have no choice, the lake I fish is an anglers worst nightmare, ONLY live bait works, we've barely caught anything on lures. If you have absolutely no tackle, then I would definitely suggest getting some Senko or Yum plastic worms first (although I doubt you have absolutely no tackle). I've been told that little rapala's are amazing for bass, I have a little original floater perch colored and it works pretty well (even at my lake). Thats just very general, though, and possibly not what you were asking, in which case I will probably be a little embarrassed :/.

New Jersey Roll Call
I'm from New Jersey . The only problem I have about where I live is that I live in the worst place for fishing, and since I can't drive yet, i'm stuck here, without a good lake or river for miles. Happily, I work at a fishing dock for a camp, for the South Jersey people, you might have heard of it, JCC Camps at medford. Caught some really nice fish there, very recently in fact , and I get to fish EVERY weekday in the summer, which is the only reason I keep going back.

Tacklemaking On A Budget?
THANK YOU! You were the firs person to actually answer my question completely, not that the other peoples replies were bad, but they weren't as thorough as you were. Just a couple of detail questions though. First of all, I have some wire hangers at my house that we have plenty of, would that work as the hook eyes? Second, I have some fishing weights, would those work as ballasts (though I'd probably make a topwater popper or something)? And last, what cheap/regular home items can I use for finish? Thanks again

Tacklemaking On A Budget?
I'm not doing this to save me money, It'll probably cost more money for me to make a lure than to buy one, I just thought it would be a cool thing to do
