I look down his throat but didn't see nothing. I do whish i would have cut him open it see. He hit a top water spook, so maybe his was blind they both look like the one on camera.

I caught this bass today at my local lake. It looks like one of small bass you would get in a overstock pond, but if it was healthy it would of been a 3 + lber. I was wondering if anyone esle have ever caught one like this and what should I have done? The picture doesn't give it any justice it look extremely bad!! I didn't release it back. I was afraid it might had something that could be spread. I did catch two more on that spot that look fine.

I tried your tips on Hamilton but they were a no go. There was a decent top water bit almost all day and that is how I caught my fish on day one. I used my favorite top water lure a spoke. On the second day we were around schooling bass but could not get one to hook up. I caught one on a deep diving crankbait. It was actually a strike king sexy shad 6xd which I won the previous day in a raffle after day 1 weigh in. I thought it had to mean something. I don’t through a lot of crankbait. I fish around the rest of the day and got nothing. Finally on the last cast of the day I hung a 3+ lber on it. Weights were low but I was able to get a 5th place finish so I was proud of myself. It was a tough tournament, but I came away with a check and the best finish of the year so far.

Using a jitterbug at night is probably one of my biggest childhood memory when it comes to fishing. My family and I used to camp a lot on a creek packed with smallmouth. I seem during the day the biggest one you could catch was a pound and a half, but a night with the jitterbug three pounders was common and I caught my PB with one that was just over five pounds on one. If you like to catch them on top water during the day, you got to try night time. During the day, you see the splash, and at night you hear it.

I am getting four days off in a “ROW” this weekend, Saturday through Tuesday. I am planning to do a lot of fishing. I bought two new reals that I had not had a chance to use and a black light for night fishing I also have not got a chance to use. The weather has been awesome here in Arkansas this last couple of weeks and the forecast is showing it to stay pretty close to the same, so I was thinking about taking a tent and my boat to a lake and get some fishing in. I was just wondering what the hottest lake right now in Arkansas is. I am thinking about going to Bull; don’t get to fish that much. Just seeing if anyone here had an opinion on where to go? I am not against going out of state ether.

It has been cooler here in Arkansas and rainy also. I had my A/C off the last couple of days. The high are in the 70's and lows in the 50's i have not had a chance to get out and enjoy it though because of work. The river in my town it up and muddy, but i got to work tonight and then it's three day off for me!! Going to the dirt track races on Saterday putting up deer stands on Sunday and fishing Monday!! if that is not a Manly three day weekend i don't know what is!

Yes, I normal go to my local outdoor shop. I like to interact with people verous just ordering over the internet. Plus to retrun something is so much easier than having to mail it off. I am at the point know that i know all the guys that work there and a lot of time they will cut me deals on some products. It is one of the places when i feel i am ready to try and get sponsor i should not have any problem with them. I pay a little more, but it is extremely handy to have a place in my town that carries quality equipment if i need it today.

I have always wanted to keep a better track of what I do spend in a year’s time, but I always forget until half way through the year. I would really like to know how much gas I spend just in my boat (not included truck) this year I went a little crazy because I got my truck and boat both paid off so I have extra cash laying around. I bought a new graph two new reels and rods. Tournaments fees and lures the list can just go on and on. I would say I hit 5k already this year and planning to spend more. This winter I am going to get my set redone and I am also planning to fish as a boater next year so I have been making a list of things I “need”

It really works all my friends are all getting married and having kids and i am like look at my sweet boat!!

knock on wood i never got myself with a treble hook. I seen my dad have a treble hook past the barb in his thumb and kentucky on the other treble hook. It was a KVD sexy shade crankbait must be something about those KVD lures! lol

I have heard that Chevy is coming out with a 1/2 ton diesel in like 2015. I am thinking about taking a look at this when it comes out. I will most likely wait a few year to see if i can get a good used one so I don't have to pay that new price. But i drive a 2007 chevy and it tows my boat every where i need it to go just at 12 mph.

Anybody on here fishes Lake Hamilton? I am heading down there next month for a BFL tournment as a co-angler. Just seeing if anyone has any pointers. Thanks.

Hybrid fishing is great at Greers! I cannot wait until the fall when they start busting on top. But there is a lot of bass in the lake also, you justt got to put the time in to find them. Once you find them they normally move.

Just think how hard you could set the hook all jacked up on roids! The fish would be flying over your head!

I recently introduced my buddy to the shaky head, and he using almost for anything now. He really likes using the Berkley chigger craw with a lot of success! When he first done it I wanted to tell him that not what it is for, but kept my mouth shut and he started catching fish. I would give it a shot if I was you. I havnt just yet but it is only a matter of time.

My buddy which is 40 has only caught one or two smallmouth in his live before this year and never went out and just fish for smallmouth. His 12 year old son has never caught a smallmouth! I stumbled a crossed a couple of great smallmouth wholes this spring. I took my buddy and his was hooked! We was using tubes (gezztis); fishing anywhere from 8 ft. to 18 ft. So when we brought his son it took a little bit to convince that not all fish was on the bank. (Two of the spot was off shore a brush pile and a ledge). He would let his gezztis get all the way down to the bottom, so I went to the ledge which was only about 8-9 feet deep but still 40 yards off the bank. He caught three on back to back to back cast and he was hook. The biggest one was only 2 lbs., but anyone who has caught a 2 lb. smallmouth now they fight like a five pound largemouth. It is safe to say that I created two more smallmouth enthusiast!

Checkout flw's BFL, I believe you have to be 16 years,but you can fish it as a co-angler. entry fees are $100 I think they have 5 qualifying tourny a year were you cam qualified for regionals. I have been fishing it for two years and really enjoyed it. You hear of some bad boater, bit so far (knock on wood) I have had all great boater! I have learned a lot and had tons of fun and highly recommend anyone to try it. Go to flwoutdoors.com and check it out.

How many days of practice do you have? If you multiple days I would try and break the lake down and focus on section a day. And just look for the season pattern. Which this time of year should be spawn/post spawn. I like to try and find fish closest to the ramp as i can to max my fishing during the tournament. Than just go fish and find the fish. Like Megastink said sometime I think its better not to fish because one of two things can happen one you can have a good day of practice and then your fish has moved or not bitting and you scared to make a change or you have a really bad day of practice and you have no confidence for the tournament. But for me if I didn't pre-fish the day of the tournament I would feel rush to find the fish and fish way to fast.

Bass fishing can be tough on Greers Ferry! It hot right now! I just fished a tournament there this past weekend and out of 89 boats there was 71 limits weighed in. It only took 12lbs to win it so it was small but a lot of fish was caught! Mainly flippen brush, but we caught ours in about 6 ft of water with tubes. We was fishing for smallmouth, i bet we caught 40 between the two of us. i was by far the funnest tournament day i ever had wieghed in 8 lbs good enough for 14th place and brought home a check!

I havn't been on here in a long time! Kinda got burned out on fishing there for a while, but the fish are biting again and I'm back! Just wanted to say hi to everyone again.
