you walk up near someone who is already fishing and hook up with a big bass? lol So I went fishing for the 4th of july (told my gf I had to work for a few hours, I know thats bad, but I already felt guilty and confessed lol) and had a great day. I was fishing from the shore and noticed a few guys who for some reason just rubbed me the wrong way, just the yelling combined with the usage of live bait (live bait has its moments but not all the time) and I could tell they were watching my every move. So as I was getting closer I saw a log running parallel to the shoreline with some brush at the end. Of course the other people were casting as far out as the could and also were throwing nets. So I just made a short flip cast and thought I felt tug so I set the hook and missed...d**n...however the cracking of my 7'2'' Shimano Cumara and the snap of the 30lb braid caught everyones attention. I quickly flipped out again to the same spot thinking man, wouldnt it be nice to catch one now with everyone looking? and SLAM on the fall a solid 4.5lber completely inhaled my custom jig paired with the rage craw (thank you Rage!!) Now keep in mind im not the kind to brag or boast especially when im fishing because we all know religious or not fishing has its own way of humbling the angler, but sometimes its nice to show off just a little bit

So I always fish for LMB but tonight I'm going out on my girlfriends boat to a lake that's well known for big stripers. I will be fishing from sunset throughtout the night. I've looked into some live bait that's known to be doing well there however I have never rigged live bait before. Any suggestions on rigging? Also are there any lures In particular that might do well at night? I dont even know where to begin looking at lures for stripers. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

So I have a little fishing spot that I dont think gets fished too much, at least if it does they are novice anglers (not saying im a pro or anywhere near that!) But I keep fishing at night because 1 I work during the day and 2 its 110+ here in AZ during the daylight hours. But what I am noticing is every time I go out at night I can only seem to catch fish on my custom made jigs. I throw top water, spinner baits, and a few other soft plastics but nothing works besides the jig. I am not complaining but just a little puzzled because I thought spinners and top water baits would have more attraction to the fish when its dark out. I even catch some bass on moonless nights under the bridge where there are no lights and the water is a little murkey. Are these fish just really skiddish and only want quiet suddle presentations?

Caught my first 5lber. 5.3lbs to be exact. I told myself I was going to mount my first 5lber but I just couldnt bring myself to do it and it wasnt quite large enough, just really thick. Plus it was during spawn so I kinda feel like that is cheating. So I have raised the bar for my first ever bass mount. 6lbs 2ozs or more. Then that fish will have seen its last day. But it was still a fun day of fishing, solid 3 and 4 lbers all day probably 10+ fish and an additional 10+ fish under 3 lbs. I think I found a new gem of a spot that no one fishes. But thats a secret

I have a carbonlite paired with the 6'6" M carbonate rod and I love it, can throw it all day. Strong for it's weight too. However it is the older model the gold one, not the newest model

For what it's worth (never had a loomis) but I do have the 7'2" MH XFast cumara and I absolutely love it. Paired up with my quantum smoke it's the most comfortable/ most reliable setup I have. Love it for jigs

So I have never owned a bass boat before but now it is time to go all in. I have my eyes set on a 2004 ranger 175VS. Thanks guys! have a 7'2'' Cumara with 30lb braid that I use for jigs and I love it-and I miss hooksets far less often when using it. i did re-spool with Seaguar Flurocarbon line on my Carbonlite, and the next day I went out I had much better hook-up ratios. I did feel the bites WAY more than I previously used to with mono. There was just about 2 or 3 that I missed--which may just be me sucking lol however I noticed one thing- The fish I did miss were on the line for a good 3-4 seconds, I thought they were hooked but then when they got off and I looked at my Texas-Rigged Eliminator the hook was still in the (skin hooked) position- ^^is that a sign that those hookset were just simply not hard enough? Thank you for all the help! I did catch this guy sight fishing which I've never done before but wow was it fun!

So have I have 6'6'' Medium action Carbon lite I use for light plastics such as Texas rigged Eeliminator, Money Minnows etc... Yesterday I caught a nice 4lber on it but then missed 3 or 4 for hooksets. Today I Hooked 2 more 4 lbers but missed a few other hooksets (3 for sure). Sometimes I feel my rod is a little to "soft" combined with the trilene 14lb mono and hooksetting is difficult. I am tempted to spool up with Fluro with no stretch do you think this will help? Im a little less confident changing lines after today because I got 2 nice fish on it tho.... Please let me know your 2 cents If anything will Fluro decrease my performance? Strictly keeping Rage Eeliminator and Money Minnow in mind. (I know it will increase sink rate and stuff with the line so no need to talk about that, strictly hooksetting ability please)

So I guess my next question is....Whats the best way to preserve the fish after you decide to mount it? If you dont have a live well? Ive heard wet towel on ice? I like some of those replicas they look awesome btw! Makes me realiaze I got a long way to go before mounting one lol

As i started a topic earlier many of you chose replica mounts over actual mounts. Can you guys take a few pics and post them of your replicas? I have never seen a Replica fish in real life that I know of unless it was and I thought it was real lol

So I have only been actively bass fishing (by active I mean every chance I can 4-6 times a week, a lot from shore and sometimes my inflatable on the weekends) for about a year now. And this will be the first year I fish all seasons in order. My PB lmb is only 4lbs 4ozs. I am always catch and relase and try to handle every bass as gently as possible. However I always wanted to have at least 1 bass mounted for my wall as I have a few trout mounted. I told myself if I catch a solid 5lber this year I will mount it. Is this a bad idea or do you think I should not feel guilty and do it? Of course I still gotta catch the 5lber too Also 5lbs may not sound big to you Eastern fisherman but out here in the dessert 5lbs is pretty big.

As of yesterday I firmly believe the bass are close to full spawn. However I had a hard time enticing the bite on their beds they seemed really skiddish. Switched to a finess bait and landed 6 within about 45 minutes. Shad color baits are doing well right now too. Also remember that the carp are also spawning and can reach sizes much larger than the average arizona bass. These big carp spook the bass (they eat their eggs if im not mistaken) so if you find yourself next to a lot of carp you may want to switch locations.

So I was at my local city lake after work flippin and pitchin my home-made football head jigs around some docks and boat ramps when I set my hook into something......big......very big.....at first I thought I was hung up but then my 7'2'' heavy action rod bent over to what I thought was almost breaking point. My Quatnum smoke with full drag ( I think its 14lbs?) was peeling off my 30lb PP braided line like nothing. With my arms tiring out, switching my rod from left to right hand, my line cutting across the water, and my heart pounding I couldnt believe my eyes. This continued for about 5-10 solid minutes(felt like an hour) before I saw....it...??? I dont understand how this happened, my jig was snagged into its belly? I went to weigh the fish and my BPS scale has never felt anything so heavy-21lb.3ozs... This is the biggest fish I have ever caught. After this ordeal and catching 2 LMB just before hand, I was content and ready to head home. However the carp had dug my braid all in around and up itself on my reel, so i attempted to cast as far out as I could and just re-spool my line.....NOT SO FAST! That very next cast I snag into something big again! Same thing it took me for a ride, a lot shorter this time however so I was thinking cat-fish maybe? NOPE an 11lb carp behind the gill?!?! Granted my Fball head jig has no weed guard but is this common? I felt so bad for the fish. Both seemed to swim away just fine tho so I dont think I hurt them?? Any ideas why this happened or was this just a freak accident?

But the payment status is complete and they have withdrawn the money from my account. Does this website just take a long time or has anyone else had an experience with them? My tiny city lake (a cement fish bowl for Arizona States Rowing team is more accurate) in arizona is completely concrete with absolutely zero cover. It doesnt have crawdads lol guaranfrickenteed. But they love those Rage Chunks!

So I am in the market for a backpack tacklebox. My fishing partner has a BPS backpack tacklebox that works great and holds up to 10 cases for lures and such. I was looking at the Shimano blackmoon tacklebox but I was concerned it was to small. It says it holds 4 Plano 3650 boxes. How big are those? Does anyone have personal experience with this item? Matter of fact after I posted my first response I drove down to my local city lake "Tempe Town" and pulled this guy out on the side of a concrete boat launch ramp. All I saw was a bunch of little shad get spooked right where my bait was than "Tick......boom!" followed shortly after. He must of had a full belly because he felt really heavy for his size. If I had to guess he felt like he was pushin 3 lbs. Left my scale in the garage

Hell yeah JIGS all year round here in AZ for me as well. Especially at my personal favorite lake, Roosevelt. Tick Tick Boom even in the heat of the summer!
